Whale Sightings - Tuesday 9 August 2022

🐳🐳3.45pm A Mother and calf pair are at Basham Beach, Middleton,

🐳🐳2.50pm Buttons and Bobby are approximately 700 metres out from Frenchman Lookout, Port Elliot.

🐳🐳2.10pm Buttons and Bobby are 100 metres south-east of Frenchman Rock, Port Elliot. They have been seen swimming around the rock and the shore.

🐳🐳1.36pm A Mother and calf (CC4) are approximately 2 kilometres south of Skye Ave, Middleton. Zelda and Diamond (CC3) are 1400 metres south travelling east.

🐳🐳11.50am Buttons and Bobby are approximately 900 metres south-east of Basham Beach, Middleton.

🐳🐳11.45am A Mother and calf (CC6) are 800 metres south of Miami Blvd, Middleton.

🐳🐳 🐳🐳 🐳🐳 10.30am Nettie and her calf are approximately 900 metres east of Frenchman Rock, Port Elliot. Zelda and Diamond are about 1 kilometer east amd another pair are resting 500 metres north of Frenchman Rock.

🐳🐳 🐳 10.30am A Mother and calf pair (CC4) are 700 metres south-east of Goolwa Beach travelling west. The single SRW is approximately 1000 metres south-east of Goolwa Beach.

🐳🐳 🐳9.51am Mother and calf (CC4) and a single SRW are at Goolwa heading east.

🐳🐳 9.40am Nettie and her calf (CC5) are approximately 700 metres east of Frenchman Rock moving to the north.

🐳🐳9.03am A Mother and calf (CC6) are heading west from Goolwa Beach. Another Mother and calf are with an unidentified single SRW near Goolwa Beach.

🐳🐳8.53am Mother and Calf (CC6) are approximately 500 metres south-east of Goolwa Beach heading east. A pod of dolphins upsetting the mum as they swim around them.

🐳🐳 🐳🐳 🐳8.30am Mother and Calf (CC6) are about 600 metres south-east of Goolwa Beach. Another Mother and calf (CC4) are with an unidentified single SRW are milling approximately 1000 metres south of Goolwa Beach.

🐳🐳 8.11am A Mother and calf pair have are around Goolwa with reports of a whale breaching.

🐳🐳 🐳🐳 🐳🐳8.00 am A Mother and Calf pair is near Frenchman Rock, Port Elliot, with another pair spotted near Basham Beach and one pair near Miami Blvd. Middleton

🐳🐳7.30am Zelda and Diamond (CC3) are approximately 1.2 kilometres south-west of Skye Ave, Middleton. Diamond is learning how to breach with multiple breaches reported.

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 - 𝟏𝟎 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏

🐳🐳 At 11.50am Broderie and her calf were spotted at Oliver's Reef, Victor Harbor.

🐳🐳 At 10.53am a SRW CC pair were sighted 460m south from Knights Beach, Middleton. Broderie and her calf are now heading west.

🐳🐳 At 10:24am a SRW CC pair were sighted out from Pullen Island, Port Elliot. The pair were seen moving around Pullen Island and heading in a southerly direction.

🐳🐳 At 9:42am confirmation that the earlier sighting was in fact a SRW CC pair. Looking forward to finding out who this pair could it be!

🐳 At 9:38am there was tail slapping sighted east of Freeman's K**b Lookout. The experts suspect a Southern Right Whale (SRW) cow and calf pair (CC) 🐳🐳

🐳 At 8.59am an unidentified whale was spectacularly seen breaching five kilometres out from Waitpinga cliffs.

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐋𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 - 𝟐 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏

🐳🐳 At 3.35pm the Wright Island SRW mother and calf were still seen lingering in the middle of the triangle of Granite, Wright and Seal Islands.

🐳🐳 At 1.35pm multiple reports were received of the Wright Island pair having an amazing time playing and splashing around in the rain and hail.

🐳🐳 At 12.45pm its been confirmed that the Wright Island whale sighting is in fact a Southern Right Whale (SRW) mother and calf 👏 The pair are currently 400 metres north-west of Wright Island.

🐳 At 11.50am an unconfirmed whale species was sighted approximately 100 metres from Wright Island on the north-west side.

🐳 At 9.20am a whale was sighted one kilometre east of Frenchman Rock, Port Elliot with the species not yet confirmed.

The Christies Beach mother and calf can still be seen between today's rough surf:
🐳 8.30am sighted approximately 50 metres in front of the Ripple and Swirl Cafe.
