We have had a number of people trying to break into the hotel premisies over the last couple of weeks, the last of which was at 6.18am this morning.

I can’t believe I have to say this but The Pier Hotel premises is NOT free game for wannabe thieves! 🤬🖕🏼
Just because we aren’t open to the public, doesn’t mean the hotel is unmanned.
We still work here.
We still live here.
Our security systems are still very much active.
You are on camera.
Your vehicles are on camera, including your regos.

🥲 GOODBYE, OLD FRIEND 🥲

This week, by sheer coincidence, we were lucky enough to have a couple of local legends here at the same time.
The man who designed and built the famous Pier Hotel DJ Ball (Darrell Smith, Hedland Sheet Metal, 1997) and the new owner (Ricky Rowland, RGR Road Haulage).

Today, the DJ ball left the premises and is about to spend its first night at its new home 🥲

We know it’s in safe hands and we hope you make as many amazing memories with it as we have over the years, Ricky! ⚽️🤎🥳

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up to our auction today. We are completely overwhelmed with the turnout, considering half of Hedland is at Marble Mar Cup this weekend 🏇🏻🤠

We are so pleased to announce that the local legend, Ricky from RGR Road Haulage had the winning bid on the DJ ball. We couldn’t be happier that it’s gone to someone who will truly appreciate it and will keep it a Hedland icon. May the spirit of The Pier Hotel live on with every piece that left here today 🍺🥰

Special shout out to our MC/auctioneer Phil, you did a ripper job today, Mate. Cheers for everything! 🙌🏼😁

🎱 POOL TABLES 🎱 CASH ONLY

We’ve had A LOT of enquires about buying the pool tables in our beer garden.

The BAD NEWS was that they aren’t ours to sell. They are owned by a third party, we only provide a venue for the tables to be used.

The GOOD NEWS is that the owners have decided to add them to our inventory for tomorrow’s auction.

Now, when we tell you these pool tables are an iconic part of The Pier Hotel, we mean they have been in this pub for much longer than us. We’re not sure exactly how long they’ve been here but I know I played my first game on them back in 1998.

They are a fiberglass body designed to withstand all weather conditions (survived many a cyclone in the beer garden) and come with a weatherproof cover, a set of pool balls, cues, triangle and chalk.

They are currently being pulled apart, cleaned out and serviced by the owners as we speak!

Looking forward to seeing everyone here at lunchtime tomorrow 🎱✌🏼😎

🍺 AUCTION DAY 🍺 CASH ONLY- no eftpos

~SATURDAY 6th JULY, 12pm Lunchtime~

As you can imagine, since announcing our closure, we have been inundated with phone calls, texts, Facebook messages, emails, smoke signals and a homing pigeon from our Hedland locals asking if they can pleeease have a piece of The Pier Hotel to take home with them as a memento.
While we understand where everyone is coming from, there are far too many of you and only so many mementos to take… and tbh we’re completely overwhelmed with amount of requests 🤯😵‍💫
We honestly can’t decide who gets what, it’s too hard to choose 🤷🏼‍♀️🫣
So to make things as fair possible we have decided to hold a mini auction day, just so we don’t have to play favourites.
This Saturday at lunchtime we will be parting ways with everything from our bar mats to our infamous DJ BALL!! 🤩⚽️
Indoor and outdoor furniture such as barstools, wooden picnic tables, aluminum tables, pedestal fans, bar fridges, TV’s, reception desk, sound system and speakers…. literally EVERYTHING that’s not nailed to the floor! 🤣🤣

This will also be the very last time we open our doors to the public. Your last chance to come and take photos and say goodbye to the place. We look forward to seeing you all then.

EDIT- Unfortunately, as we did not anticipate this day happening we have already packed up and returned our EFTPOS terminals.
We are also limited with the amount of money for our ATM, so if you would like to come and buy a souvenir before we are done and dusted, please bring cash.
