Tucked away at Arura Group Stays in Port Hughes is this special piece of history.

This plaque marks the opening of Elanora in 1978 by The Hon. Don Banfield M.L.C., Minister of Health, and recognises the incredible support of the Strathmont Auxiliary and Strathmont Canteen Funds in bringing the camp project to life.

Nearly 50 years on, we’re proud to continue welcoming guests to a place with such meaningful community history and connection. ✨
