Pomegranates Port Melbourne

Pomegranates Port Melbourne Pomegranates is a fully furnished studio apartment for short-term stays, located in Port Melbourne, Australia.
• is self-contained
• accommodates 2 people

The house that Pomegranates Port Melbourne is attached to has been in Yvonne’s family since it was built in the 1930s. Yvonne’s grandparents bought the house because they loved the big garden and how close it was to the beach. Her grandmother, Irene, planted a pomegranate tree in their front garden and 80 years later it still stands strong. In the 1980s Yvonne and her partner Max came to live with

Irene. They built the studio apartment to live in themselves but moved into the front house as their young family grew. Now they rent the apartment to guests or make it available for visiting family and friends. To continue her grandmother’s tradition, Yvonne planted a pomegranate tree in the back courtyard for guests to enjoy.

View today from HMAS Choules; this is the view that greets anyone arriving at Station Pier Port Melbourne. Probably a very different view of Melbourne's skyline to those arriving by ship in the 1950s!

It's a fleeting phenomenon that seems made for social media feeds, but why does the Westgate Park salt lake — nestled in an industrial part of Melbourne — turn this rosy hue?
