Portland has fishing charters operating twelve months of the year.

Charters are available for all types of fishing from deep sea, bay fishing to harbour cruises.

Charters are a fantastic way for the keen armature angler who wants to try something different without the expense of having their own boat.

During the bust tuna season upwards of 30 charter boats work out of Portland harbour. Most charters work on a per boat rate so get a group of friends together to share the cost and a great days fishing.

It was only a few months ago that I finally went on the boat tour of the seal colony.

I've been all over the Victorian coast and never seen anything as crazy as this. Rocks, caves, seals, seal cubs, and incredible cliffs formed from the collision between limestone and volcanic eruptions in the recent past. Cannot recommend more highly.

Seals are also popular marine residents, and can often be seen cruising the harbour and bay and delighting fishers on the breakwater and jetty. The 650-strong colony at Cape Bridgewater can be observed from Seal Point, often basking in the sun on the rocks.
