The Installation of Brother Garath May MM is almost upon us—and it is shaping up to be the standout and most eagerly anticipated event of the year.

At 3.00pm on Saturday, 9 May 2026 at Freemasons Melbourne, we will gather for what promises to be an exceptional and memorable occasion, filled with ceremony, camaraderie, and celebration. This is not just another Installation—it is an event not to be missed.

Wives and partners are most warmly invited and will be graciously hosted by Joyce in the Lounge from 3.00pm, with the opportunity to join us for what will be a wonderful dinner at 6.00pm if they cannot be there from the start.

Those who know Garath through the Craft, Mark, Ark, and Chapter will understand how much this day will mean to him. Your presence will help make this a truly remarkable occasion and ensure it is remembered as one of the great days in the Lodge’s history.

Make sure you don't miss out by booking in here: https://www.trybooking.com/DKHQD and we look forward to you joining us for a day full of Good Food, Good Fun and Good Fellowship.

Congratulations to our daughter Lodge, Old Scotch Collegians Lodge No. 396 on their Centenary. Notwithstanding their centenary was in November last year, and that Scotch Collegians have always been late to the party, so nothing new there, it was wonderful to join with them to help celebrate their milestone. Even if it was six months late. What would OSCL night be without a Piper and Haggis. Oh and the presence of a real life Kentucky Colonel, congratulations Andrew Baird. Here’s to another 100 years.

We had a very enjoyable Master’s last night. In the Lodge Room, the Masonic Alphabet M - Z, Obligation of the Master Elect in the Second, Open in the Third and Call Off. In the South a talk from the Junior Warden on his visit to the Captain Cook Lodge & Chapter in North Yorkshire, our sister Lodge, followed by a toast to the Worshipful Master and Brethren of the CCL poured by each brother from the decanter presented to the JW to commemorate his visit and a toast of thanks to our outgoing Master, Brother Jason for all his hard work over the last two years. Finally we raised another $100.00 from raffle proceeds to go towards the RCH Good Friday Appeal. All in all great night of good food, good fun and good fellowship.

I had a wonderful surprise waiting for me on the doorstep today from the Worshipful Master and brethren of Captain Cook Lodge & Chapter. The Captain Cook Lodge in Stokesley, North Yorkshire is the sister lodge of the Old Melburnians’ and Garath’s and my English Craft Lodge. I would urge all brethren if they ever get a chance to visit. The hospitality of the Captain Cook Lodge is second to none and Stokesley is a pretty little market town in one of the most beautiful parts of England. I already know at which OM Lodge meetings this decanter will be filled with a fine port and passed to the left.

The Old Melburnians Lodge was honored last night by a visit from the Deputy Grand Master, RWBro Myles King and his Es**rt to present to our Secretary, RWBro Richard Burman OAM PSGW his 70 year service jewel. This was a duty that Brother Myles promptly delegated to Richard's son, WBro Andrew Burman PM OMF. It was a wonderful night of Good Fun, Good Food and Good Fellowship in a Lodge Room and South full of brethren who had come together to help celebrate the milestone. Richard was a Lewis, the son of WBro Richard James Burman PGSD and was initiated into Freemasonry at the Kingsale Lodge in 1955 then meeting at Collingwood.
