🚗 Road Trip Stop: Quirindi Silo Art 🌾

Travelling through the beautiful Liverpool Plains? Make sure you pull in at Quirindi and visit the incredible Quirindi Silo Art.

Standing tall in the centre of town, these towering GrainCorp silos have been transformed into stunning artworks by Perth artist Peter Ryan, telling the story of Quirindi — from the Dreamtime stories of the Kamilaroi people, to the region’s proud farming heritage, the arrival of the railway, and the spirit of the families who call this place home.

Take a wander around the silo precinct, relax in the viewing area, read the interpretive signs and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of our rural town.

🌙 Stay until dark for the real magic…

Each evening the silos come alive in a spectacular Light & Sound Show, where the artwork lights up and tells the story of the Liverpool Plains through colour, music and storytelling.

⏰ Show Times
• EST – from 7:30pm
• Daylight Saving – from 8:30pm
A 30 minute countdown clock runs prior to the show.

The show runs for 20 minutes and is played twice nightly.

✨ The show is updated with new segments, so every visit could be a little different.

Add Quirindi to your road trip itinerary — you won’t regret the stop!

Let’s all make an effort to support the businesses that support local community projects — it’s what keeps towns like ours thriving.

Don’t forget their café “The Fox Hole”, also part of Club Quirindi, is open 6am – 8pm and is the perfect spot to grab a coffee or bite to eat while enjoying the beautiful silo artwork nearby.

✨ The Story Behind Quirindi Silo Art ✨

Did you know our much-loved Quirindi Silo Art is more than just a beautiful painting? It tells the story of who we are, where we’ve come from, and what makes our community so special.

Officially opened in January 2023, the mural was created by WA artist Peter Ryan and celebrates our rich agricultural history, grain industry, and Indigenous heritage. Standing proudly over our town, the silos have been part of Quirindi’s story since 1933, once playing a vital role in transporting wheat from the Liverpool Plains to Sydney and Newcastle by rail.

What makes Quirindi even more unique is that it is the first location in Australia to introduce an interactive light and sound show, bringing the artwork to life each night and creating a truly magical experience for visitors and locals alike.

This incredible project was made possible through the dedication of volunteers, supporters, sponsors, and community members who believed in showcasing our town and its story to the world.

Today, our silos are a symbol of pride, creativity, and connection — a place where locals gather, visitors stop, and memories are made.

If you haven’t visited recently, take a moment to stop by, enjoy the artwork, and reflect on the history it represents. We’re so proud of what Quirindi has achieved 💛🌾🎨

✨✨✨A Magical Night for Our Community — A Message from the Quirindi Silo Art Committee✨✨✨

What an incredible evening we shared on Saturday for the Quirindi Silo Art Christmas Light and Sound Show! While the crowd appeared a little smaller than last year, we were absolutely thrilled to see so many smiling faces out enjoying the festivities. The warmth of our community spirit shone brighter than ever.

Our wonderful Rotary Club of Quirindi members were there in force, working tirelessly to bring the much-loved Chocolate Wheel to life once again. There were happy cheers, plenty of laughs and so many great prizes won — thank you Rotary for continuing this treasured tradition.

A special shout-out must go to our market stallholders. They braved the heat, set up beautifully on the grassed area and helped create a colourful Christmas village feel. We know the afternoon was warm, and we are so grateful for your enthusiasm and support.

Our afternoon entertainment kicked off with fantastic performances from our dancers — and what a terrific job they did in such tough, hot conditions! Their energy and smiles helped set the tone for the fun evening ahead. We also want to thank Steve, Brandi and Xavier for their amazing musical performances that filled the precinct with festive spirit.

Mayor Ken Cudmore joined us and spoke so sincerely about the importance of volunteers. His heartfelt words reminded us that this event — and many others — simply wouldn’t happen without the dedication, passion and teamwork of volunteers across the Liverpool Plains. We feel very grateful to be part of such a giving community.

Of course, one of the magical highlights of the night was the arrival of Santa Claus! He brought excitement, joy and unforgettable moments for so many families. We loved seeing the children rush forward to greet him and share their Christmas wishes.

We’d also like to thank everyone for their patience as we work through the ongoing sound issues with the silo speakers. We were pleased that many guests tuned into the dedicated radio frequency to enjoy the full soundtrack. We are confident this will be resolved very soon, ensuring the full experience is enjoyed just the way it’s intended.

When the countdown began and the silos lit up with the spectacular Christmas Light and Sound Show reveal, we all paused together — proud of what our town has created and excited for the magic of the Christmas season ahead. These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, supported or contributed in any way — thank you. Your involvement makes this community what it is: warm, welcoming, and wonderfully festive.

From all of us on the Quirindi Silo Art Committee, we hope you and your families have a joyful Christmas, and we can’t wait to see you all again next year for even more magic at the silos. 🎄✨
