I strip graze my highlands so they get a new strip of fresh grass each day and then we stop them from grazing what they’ve eaten a few days ago so the previously eaten grass can start growing back. Occasionally there’s a naughty one who goes under the fence. This is the last bit of this part on the paddock and then they’ll move to another section.

Highlands are very clever at making you feel appreciated. You can see how much they love being brushed and you just want to hug and please them. I spend every day in the paddock and still don’t feel I’m giving them enough of my attention but then I’d never get anything else done.

It’s fun when the calves get the zoomies. It’s a shame Hudson doesn’t have another calf his size to play with.

It’s frustration that when I’ve had to give extra attention to certain cows or calves they seem to be the cheekiest. Hazel in this first photo is always on the wrong side of the temporary electric fence.

There’s been some big changes this year. My parents have moved into what we called the Farm Stay House. So now I’ve made the middle of the main house (Homestead) available as a BnB too. So now you can stay in either the Spa or Cinema Suite or book the Homestead in the middle. If you’ve got a bigger family or group you can stay in either of the suites and the Homestead or book the whole house.

My boys aren’t that smart when it comes to gates sometimes. They get confused which way to go once others are on the other side of the gate. They also prefer to follow me so they know where I want them to go, so they started running back towards me which was a bit awkward.
