The village was named after Henry RAPP who married the Publicans daughter known as Granny Greenstreet, who transferred her licence from nearby Myrtle Creek for her now son in-law. The Commercial Hotel was built opposite the then operational Train Station in 1911. The village of Rappville, commemorating it’s pioneer settler. Update on Hotel for Sale

We are currently in discussions with three highly interested individual buyers, Additionally, we have two more viewings scheduled for this week. We are carefully considering all options and will select the buyer who aligns best with the community's values and demonstrates a genuine commitment to the future of the hotel.

We remain hopeful that the Rappy will soon have a dedicated publican to take over, allowing to reopen the doors. Let’s continue to support our local pubs—they are vital pieces of our village's history, rich with stories and tradition.

Best,
Lisa & Colin

In Memory of Joy RAPP

Such sad news we received this evening of the passing of Mrs Joy RAPP. Joy & Barry Rapp were one of the first people to welcome us with open arms on the purchase of the ‘Henry Rapp’ hotel and have been encouraging with genuine kindness and love to our family and supportive of the hotel. Many locals know of the Rapp history and we send our condolences to the entire RAPP family at this time.

I know Joy will be smiling down on us as only today we decided to re-open the Rappy hotel soon. Further details will be revealed at a more appropriate time.

Sending our thoughts to the Rapps. Joy will be dearly missed especially by me. 🌸

Update of pub sale - earlier this week we were offered full asking price of $975k if we could partly vendor finance, which we were willing to do for a period of time, we asked our real estate agent to query the intent of how the pub would be run, the answer: prospective buyer wanted the hotel for a private house only. This would generate the surrendering of the hotel licence. As real estates are bound to put all offers of potential purchases to their clients - we declined this offer.

We will not sell to anyone who wishes to turn the hotel into a home. The hotel must be kept operational as a business in whatever capacity that may entail with licence attached. So please rest assure we will only sell if the hotel remains open for the village of Rappville and public. It is not always about $$ but preserving historical buildings and their life’s history, stories and purpose.

We are open Tues, Xmas Eve from 2:30pm,
Fri from 2:30pm
Sat from 11am for free sausage sizzle and farewell…

If we don’t see you, we wish everyone a safe and joyous Christmas 🎄

Friday 27th December, the Rappy will be having last drinks and unfortunately after much hard work by our family, at this stage, the hotel will remain closed thereafter. We thank everyone for your encouragement, enthusiasm and support over the past almost 5 years for the Commercial Hotel Rappville….

Biggest gratitude goes to our combined family who took on this big project… Colin, Dean & Mark Foyster not only 5th generation farmers but amazingly skilled builders and craftsmen, Bianca Foyster-Hamilton for her behind the scenes book work, my 3 children Hayden, Ashleigh for renovation & bar work and the youngest of our combined 8 children Eliza for everything you helped with from Reno, clean ups to being an amazing manager, my mum Jeanette Stewart for helping us during our busiest times…
Mitch King for helping us with renovating, bar and clean ups of floods & skilled carpenter (more known as a famous musician) Matt Hanley for working side by side with Colin from the beginning ….. Blessed strong family.
Special thank you to all who have worked at The Rappy from the young ones to the skilled and especially The Richard’s family for your overall support - you all were valuable to us.

Further decisions & info will be forthcoming in the next few months.
Although this is heartbreaking for us to close the doors - we wish everyone a wonderful safe Christmas & New Year
Colin & Lisa

(Photos below are of some of our combined 8 kids, who helped restore the Rappy with much loved carpenter and friend Matt Hanley)

Over the weeks, treasured photos of patrons, visitors and memorable events will be shared …. Thank you everyone
