OMG, I’m so in love with our two new windows and front door! I was so nervous going with the black, but it looks amazing and classy against the cream colours of the natural stone. The windows are exact replicas of those that were replaced due to the rotten timbers and difficulty opening and closing the sashes. The door is now more private than the previous glass fronted one and the beautiful arch has remained. There’s still quite a lot to go on the facade, but we can’t wait to see how it will all look once the final front window has been replaced, the stone work completed and the verandah finished. Simon is doing a top job!

A bit has been happening at The Lodge in recent weeks. New electrical and sub-floors have gone in! No more dirt floors and all one level! Things are really feeling like they are progressing now, and we can almost feel like the finish line is on the horizon!

The courtyard that we love so much has had a bit of TLC! The pavers had become a bit daggy with mould and moss and was due for a good clean. It’s come up beautifully! 😍

We’re continuing to deliberately make some steps in a backwards direction (all in an effort to ultimately move forwards!). The kitchen has been removed and room gutted just like the others in readiness to install a new timber floor throughout. An original doorway has been revealed and beautiful original timber roof shingles as a ceiling feature! Thanks to Travis for all of the hard work!

Happy birthday Isabelle! We hope you’ve had a lovely day and enjoyed the afternoon in The Lodge’s courtyard. It’s still magical at this time of the year with the naked tree branches and mossy pavers - the perfect location for a get together with dear friends, a toasty fire pit and with delicious drinks and nibbles, no matter the time of year!

Front and back finished and tidied ready for the next stage of fixing one of the window areas with the stained glass door that we believe used to be the entrance to the butcher shop. Gosh she’s beautiful! 😍😍🥰🥰

It’s been a while, but we’re starting the next stage of restoring this baby to it’s former glory. The render is coming off to reveal the beauty and character underneath. This wasn’t a wealthy man’s property, hence why it was built using smaller stones, but it is still just as beautiful and built with lots of time, effort and patience. More progress pics to come as the work continues...
