WATCH AND ACT - Prepare Now - Charley’s Creek Chinchilla and Jandowae Spillway - flood update as at 3.20am Monday 9 March 2026.
> The Warrego Highway is now closed in Chinchilla at Rocky Creek (near the golf course). There are a significant number of roads closures across the region, head to the Council’s Disaster Dashboard for information on local road closures.
> Charley’s Creek in Chinchilla is rising resulting in multiple local road closures and water in yards. Residents in low lying areas are advised to monitor and prepare.
> It is anticipated that residents on the western side of Charley’s Creek will be isolated if water continues to rise at current rate.
> Kogan township is also currently isolated due to flooding and road closures.
> Jandowae Dam has reached the minor flood level of 0.05m. Water is currently 0.11m above spillway and rising.
> With further rainfall predicted in the Jandowae catchment overnight, further water rises are possible. Presently, there is no threat to low lying areas, however, Jandowae residents are also advised to WATCH AND ACT.
> With widespread rain predicted for the Western Downs region today, conditions may change quickly. Stay informed to ensure the safety of yourself, your family and others. If it's flooded, forget it.
