Big Valley Campsite is nestled amongst the hills of our family owned working sheep farm, ten minutes South East of Margaret River. The farm encompasses a beautiful secret valley hidden from the outside world by natural forest.

Things are looking a little different this shearing season… 🐑✂️

For as long as we can remember, shearing has always been during the school holidays. Growing up, that was just how it was — we were the sheep dogs, the extra set of hands and wherever Dad needed us.

But Big Valley has gotten a whole lot busier these days, and apparently juggling school holidays, a campsite, parenting AND shearing 1,500- odd sheep is one too many hats. 😂

So for the first time in 40-odd years, we’ve moved shearing to the week after the school holidays.

Which does mean our campers will miss a bit of the action this year…

Unless you fancy wagging school. 😬😂

We didn’t say that though. 🐑

Farming gets into your blood.

It’s early mornings, late nights, sore backs, dirty boots and plenty of uncertainty. You work bloody hard to make it all work because it’s more than a job—it’s a way of life.

Growing up and now being part of a farm that’s been in our family for generations isn’t something we take for granted. We’re incredibly lucky to have Big Valley, which helps support our farming life through the ups and downs of seasons, prices and drought.

Not every farming family has that opportunity.

So today, for Flanno for a Farmer Day, we’re pulling on the flanno and raising a glass to farmers everywhere. 🍻

Because it really is a bloody hard life — and there are farming families around Australia doing it incredibly tough.

If you’d like to support them too, donations through Flanno for a Farmer go towards helping Australian farming families through Farm Angels. 🤎

One of our favourite projects over the past few years has been watching Big Valley slowly become greener. 🌿

Some of these native shrubs have been growing for around five years, while over the past 12 months we may have gone a little overboard… planting another 85 native trees and shrubs. 🌼

It’s been worth every shovel full.

Not only are they creating little hideaways and adding more privacy to our campsites, but they’ve also brought in plenty of local wildlife. We love seeing the Twenty-eight parrots, honeyeaters and other cheeky birds making themselves at home.

The best part? You still get that feeling of space and nature, while it’s only a hop, skip and a waddle to the amenities. 🤍

Have you ever dreamed of living and working on a family-owned working sheep farm in the beautiful Margaret River Region?

We're looking for a friendly and motivated couple to join our team at Big Valley Campsite from September 2026 through to June 2027.

This isn't your typical caravan park job. One of you will look after guest services and reception, while the other will care for the grounds, animals and day-to-day maintenance of the campsite.

As a small family-run business, we're looking for people who are:
✔ Self-motivated
✔ Comfortable working independently
✔ Great with people
✔ Happy to roll up their sleeves and get involved wherever needed

What's included?
🏕️ Powered campsite provided
📅 4 days on / 4 days off roster (with seasonal adjustments)
🐾 Pets welcome
💰 Above-award wages
❤️ Plenty of unexpected extras that come with being part of the Big Valley family

📧 How to apply

Please send your resume and a brief introduction about yourselves to [email protected]

Please note: RMS Cloud experience is essential, and previous caravan park experience is highly regarded. If your experience aligns with what we're looking for, we'll send you more information about the roles and life at Big Valley before progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process.

We'd love your help finding the right couple, so please feel free to share this post with anyone who might be interested. ❤️
