Amberesque B&B

Amberesque B&B Step back in time at Amberesque … a bank on the main street of Rutherglen that has been elegantly restored into a luxury B&B. Amberesque was born.

AMBERESQUE B&B

The bank was built in 1899, originally as the Bank of Australasia and finished as the ANZ bank in 1996. The striking property eventually became Bank on Main B&B, which continued to retain the old world charm of the bank chambers and the original walk-in vault. After changing hands, the property preserved its historical allure, but with a gourmet twist. Guests staying at Amberesque

will enjoy their VIP breakfast in the 14 ft ceiling bank chambers. Guests can also curl up by the log fire during cooler months and indulge in a glass of fortified wine from the Amberesque port barrel. As you make your way up the impressive staircase you will find two spacious guest rooms, both fitted with plush king sized beds, swag and tail curtains and a large ensuite bathroom complete with spa. Each room has been tastefully decorated with period style furnishings, yet has all the modern comforts such as split system air conditioning, complimentary wifi, television, DVD player, sound system, ironing facilities, and all the amenities to leave you feeling refreshed and pampered. EXPLORE RUTHERGLEN

Only a couple of kilometres from the Amberesque B&B are an array of amazing wineries offering your Rutherglen classics such as fortified varieties, Durifs and several unusual varieties too! Once you have finally digested your breakfast at Amberesque B&B and are ready to indulge in a decadent late lunch or dinner, you are only meters away from fabulous fine dining establishments such as Taste, Tuileries, classic country pubs and the Rutherglen brewery. A pre-dinner drink or nightcap at Thousand Pound wine bar is a must – especially as it is literally next door the B&B! A stroll down the Main Street of Rutherglen is like walking through a bygone era with an eclectic collection of antique stores, op-shops and old world specialty stores. Rutherglen is only a 3 hour drive from Melbourne, 6 hours from Sydney or 4 hours from Canberra. It is the perfect weekend getaway or stop over for a long journey on the Hume Highway. With only 30 minutes’ drive to Wangaratta, Yarrawonga or Albury, and 40 minutes to Beechworth or Milawa, Rutherglen is the perfect base for exploring this gourmet and scenic part of Australia.

FOR SALE!
A few years ago my friend and I created her photography on to canvas at the B&B for guests to soak up the rural and vineyard vibe and to sell to guests. I thought why don’t I share them with my online family! I love supporting my art friends and am hoping to sell more art at the B&B. Have a flick through the collection and if any of them tickle your fancy, just reach out ☺️

Rutherglen’s Margarita Mile…. Part 1

For many years Rutherglen has been renowned for its Muscat Mile… while we still are proud to be the best makers of Muscat in the world, I actually think our Margaritas are some of the best in the world!! And I would know, I have stayed at THE Margaritaville and travelled extensively in pursuit of the best of the best.. but I always find myself thinking Rutherglen still makes the meanest margarita. Here are the findings of my research so far (tough gig I know, but I felt called to do it).
