A guest recently asked why their room didn’t look exactly like the professionally styled photos online.

Honestly, it’s a really fair question.

When we photograph our rooms at Sea Lake Motel, they’re styled with decorator cushions, throw rugs, flowers, and accessories to help show the feeling and warmth of the space.

But when guests actually stay with us, our focus is on what matters most:
fresh luxury linen, properly sanitised surfaces, spotless bathrooms, comfortable beds, warmth, practicality, and a room that feels genuinely clean when you walk in the door.

Some decorative items simply can’t be realistically cleaned and sanitised between every single stay, so we choose practicality and hygiene over clutter.

It’s even one of the reasons we’ve started moving away from shower screens in some of our newest renovations. Guests notice clean. And honestly, so do we.

This is why your motel check-in tonight could go horribly wrong.

A lot of travellers think that because they made a reservation, everything is automatically confirmed.

But sometimes the motel is still waiting for:
• payment
• ID
• confirmation forms
• arrival details

Before you get on the road this morning, quickly check your emails and text messages from the motel.

Five minutes now can save you standing tired in reception tonight trying to sort it all out.

I run 24-hour check-in stays in regional Victoria, and our goal is simple:
park at the door, collect your key, cup of tea, bed.

Checking into a motel tonight?

I run regional motels with 24-hour check-in, and honestly, this catches travellers out all the time.

A lot of guests think everything is already confirmed because they made the booking… but sometimes the motel is still waiting for payment details, ID, confirmation forms, or arrival information.

A quick check of your emails and text messages before you hit the road can make your arrival so much smoother tonight.

Our goal at Sea Lake Motel is simple:
easy parking, simple check-in, comfy bed, cup of tea, done properly.

I took these photos at Lake Tyrrell on a May evening, and honestly, it felt like another planet.

The reflections, the colours, the silence… it is one of the most spectacular places I have ever stood.

Watching people experience Lake Tyrrell for the first time is something that never gets old. Regional Victoria really is extraordinary 🤍

What a brilliant way to thank the teams that support our community

This weekend, the Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers community proudly comes together to recognise and thank the incredible emergency services personnel and volunteers who support our region year-round. From the CFA to SES, ambulance, police and countless local volunteers, this round is about acknowledging the people who step up when our communities need them most.

As part of the day, our Reserves and Senior football sides will form a special guard of honour for local emergency services volunteers to walk through prior to the Senior game. We are also honoured to have Murray Allan involved in the Senior football coin toss, recognising his contribution and support within our community.

Across our other sports, netball will feature Sarah and Kylie assisting with the coin tosses, while at hockey, Brent will be helping with the traditional stick toss. These moments are a small but meaningful way for our club to show appreciation for those who dedicate their time to keeping our communities safe. All Tigers players are also asked to wear a Yellow arm band in recognition of the round.

Emergency services personnel and volunteers are also warmly invited to join us for afternoon tea at half time of the Senior football, giving our club and community the opportunity to connect and personally thank those who do so much for our region.

Importantly, funds raised from gate entry throughout the round will be donated directly back to our local emergency service groups. We encourage everyone to come along, support the Tigers, and help us celebrate and give back to the volunteers and emergency personnel who do so much for our community.

Oh my goodness… this one was BIG.
31 days of demolition, building, painting, problem-solving, styling, cleaning, and trying to turn an old motel room into something that genuinely feels luxurious.
And tonight, we finally finished our new Twin Queen Luxury Suite at Sea Lake Motel.
Designed for girlfriends on a getaway, mums and daughters, workmates travelling together, or couples who simply sleep better separately.
We really hope you love it as much as we loved creating it.
