Yesterday contracts were exchanged on the sale of Milton Country Cottages. We are are retiring to a house in Milton where we will build a workshop for Kees to continue his pottery. We will provide more details later of where to visit us and view our pottery. The new owner will not continue Milton Country Cottages in it's present form. If you are looking for a 2 bedroom self contained cottage with a spa bath we recommend Rosenthal Retreat in Croobyar Rd Milton. The owners are our friends Nadia and Ken. If you need a peaceful romantic getaway we recommend the Bower at Broulee where Mark and Sue will make you feel very welcome.

It's been an interesting 16 year journey and we've enjoyed meeting so many lovely people but it's time to go.

One year today since the Conjola Park bushfire destroyed our pottery workshop and gallery as well as much of our garden. It was 5 months before we could return home. Our cottages are open again and Kees has begun to make more pottery. Photos of new temporary gallery will be posted next week along with some New Year specials for our Facebook followers to celebrate new beginnings.

Milton Country Cottages is almost ready to open again. It's hard to believe it is almost 9 months since the fire destroyed our pottery gallery and workshop as well as much of our garden. At the time we thought we'd be ready in about 6 months but the job has been huge, gathering momentum after our new pottery workshop was built.

Those of you who have stayed with us before will see a few changes. With so much of our garden destroyed it is much more open between the buildings. We are also making some changes to manage covid. These include; removing some things from inside the cottages to make cleaning easier, moving our office from the house to the new pottery workshop, replacing the old barbecues with new marine quality stainless steel ones and instead of breakfast baskets some basic provisions will be left in the cottage.

On the bright side spring is here and new growth is happening everywhere. Our citrus trees that lost all their leaves in the fire now have spring blossoms as well as new leaves. Our rebuilt vegetable garden is thriving.

We haven't made our booking calendar live yet but please contact us if you would like to book any time from 25th September.

Our land line isn't working yet but the new Wi-Fi is very reliable and fast.

The cleanup has been done. It looks very bare now with the huge empty space. We've ordered the new water tank and the DA has gone in for the new building. It will look different but we'll make it look better than before. We've planted about 100 tube stock, the fish are thriving in the dam, some birds are coming back and we can hear the frogs again. There is one living in our letter box. Looking forward to going home but it will still be quite a while.

Our Story

On 12 acres of bush and gardens full of native wild life. Only 800 metres from the Princes highway but peaceful and quiet. Pottery gallery. Generous breakfast hamper, complementary port, extensive movie library.

We purchased this land nearly 20 years ago with a vision to develop it into a lifestyle for us and a relaxing retreat for guests. Our wonderful friend and architect Viggo Knacksredt worked with us to achieve environmental friendly, aesthetically beautiful and practical design. Viggo passed away last year but will always be remembered as will our landscape architect, the late Heather Dobson.

Viggo’s concept was for buildings that would sit lightly on the landscape with the new buildings blending in with the old horse stable building we were keeping. Heather helped us to tame the overgrown exotic garden and blend that with new mostly native plantings. We planted to attract birds and over 45 different species have been identified.
