A U.S. company called TRIC Robotics has created tractor-sized robots that use UV-C light to help kill pests and control plant diseases.

Instead of spraying pesticides or fungicides, these machines move through fields at night and shine powerful ultraviolet light on crops. The light can damage the DNA of fungi and pests like mildew, mites, and mold, helping stop them from spreading.

Farmers using the technology on strawberries have reported healthier crops, fewer losses, and less need for chemical sprays.
