Hello to all our Camp Grace campers and friends.
Just an update to inform you of what is happening here at Camp Grace.
After a very enjoyable time away in QLD, we had to isolate for 2 weeks. That together with extended storms, wet and cold weather meant that we had to extend our closure of the camp until the beginning of September. We had also received the news that Wendy’s cancer had unfortunately returned with some aggression. She is now having further chemotherapy, not so much to make her better, but to keep the cancer at bay and give her the best outcomes going forward. Given this diagnosis, this now considered the pallative treatment phase. This was quite a shock to us both, as Wendy had responded so well to her previous treatment. But we know that our time ahead in God’s wise hands and we continue to trust His wisdom.
During our time away from the campsite, we did have the opportunity to make some decisions moving forward, which we have both found very helpful. So it is with sadness, that we have decided to take 6 months leave from the campsite from late October/early November 2021. We both believe that the campsite is no place for a sick person to be, especially over the busy months ahead. We plan to remain in the Busselton area and find a place over this period of time.
With this, however, there is a wonderful opportunity for a Christian couple to take this paid position on the campsite. The period of service might extend, and there is also the possibility that we/Jurrien might not return. If you might be interested in a 6 month sea change, please see the Grace Christian School website for more details.
We thank you for your prayers and support, particularly over the past year. We hope we can come and visit some of you during your stays at Camp Grace.

To all our Camp Grace families and friends. The Summer holidays have nearly come to and end, and what a summer it has been for Jurrien and me.
What we thought would be a time of recovery from my final chemo on 29th Dec; changed into a life threatening diverticulitis rupture in my colon/bowel. But by the pure grace of God I am still here. After 13 days in Bunbury hospital; no surgery, but instead a cocktail of strong antibiotics and a drain; I am slowly recovering. I still have the drain in, but each day I recover a bit.
We just want to take this opportunity to say a HUGE THANKS to all our campers who came in over these past weeks, since well before Christmas. Your prayers, practical help and love have been overwhelming. Jurrien and I wouldn’t have been able to feel the peace we have, during the chaos of my illness if it wasn’t first for our faithful Father in heaven and then for the support we received from you all.
I have no idea what this new year looks like for us, none of us do. But my hope is that I might recovery for a time as we now try to manage the cancer. I hope to see you all again next year. May God bless and keep you all.
Love Wendy and Jurrien

Hello Friends of Camp Grace,
Things here on the campsite have been going very slowly. We do have a pad for the new hall but we are awaiting the arrival of the walls. Because of my medical appointments and upcoming surgery, one of our dear friends from church has volunteered to be our project manager for the hall. We are so grateful for his expertise and time. He is a true blessing from God.
This Wednesday 28th October, I (Wendy) am going in for major abdominal surgery, at SJOG at Subiaco. 4 weeks after I will need to go back to Perth for chemo 😱😰 I will have 3 lots of chemo to do. Then we will see what the outcome and best way forward. We value your ongoing prayers. We trust in God’s unfailing love and his divine will.
So once again we ask for your patience and understanding in the ongoing running of the campsite. We will both be away this week and Jurrien will be back here next Monday. Please email us instead of calling, as we are able to deal better with emails than the phone. We look forward to seeing many of you over the summer months and we keep you in our prayers.
❤️ Jurrien and Wendy

Hello to all our Campers from Camp Grace.
This message is to inform you of how life here at the campsite has changed in more ways than just 2020 being about COVID-19, and all the changes that has brought about.
In July I (Wendy) was diagnosed with 4th Stage Endometrial Cancer. Within a couple of weeks, our lives went from what we thought was fairly healthy, to me having to go through a chemotherapy regime, which has left me with peripheral nerve pain, a couple of weeks of chronic fatigue and no hair. I am on a 21 day chemo cycle and will probably have 6 doses. Then I may have to go through surgery to remove my ovaries and uterus as well as an area near my stomach that has cancer on it. All my chemo can only be done in Perth and so we are away from the campsite for a couple of days every three weeks. Apparently I have carried this cancer around for a few years, without any symptoms. So I have moved from being "healthy" to being very sick. But through out it all, our God has been good and we have been supported in so very many ways.
All of this has impacted the running of the campsite and added to the already late start to the building of the new hall. We have had to do some renovations to our house, to help with the cold that pervades the donga. The chemo leaves me feeling a very deep level of cold. Also with me being on sick leave, it has meant that everything has had to be left to Jurrien, bookings, overseeing the build, the donga renos, maintenance and everything else that we are dealing with.
We are so very sorry for all this has meant for our customers, in the way of unanswered phone calls and emails that wait to be answered for a week or so. We truly are trying to juggle so many things at the moment and for Jurrien especially, it has been a matter of prioritizing and the re-prioritizing.
We ask for you that you will pray for us during this time. The build is at least a month behind schedule (not all our doing), and we ask for patience as we navigate this time. Looking forward to seeing our regulars over November/December and January. May God bless you all.

Hi Camp Graces,
Just to let you know we are now closed for the month of July and will reopen for caravans in the Saturday 1st August.
For tent site onsite accommodation bookings please contact the office after 31st July 2020.
The BIG build is happening... it is running behind schedule because of COVID 19 but we are praying that it will all be done by the end of October.

To All our Camp Grace Campers,
We want to wish you a very Blessed Easter. It will be very strange for us not to have you here, as it will be for you to spend time at home with your families.
We pray that the message of Jesus, His Death and Resurrection, may become your message of hope, during these unusual days of confinement. Blessing to you all.
💗 Jurrien and Wendy
