Merry Christmas to all of our beautiful guests and supporters🎄We’ve had a lot of wonderful humans stay with us this year. We have loved helping to make campfires with you, feeding the horses together and making sure the marshmallows are stocked up so you can make memories.

We are committed to sustainability at Grandma’s Cottage, and we have adopted eco friendly options wherever possible. So you can imagine how thrilled we are to now add solar power to our list of sustainable practices. We have enough panels to power our house and the cottage whilst the sun is shining. A little step closer to off grid living!

There’s a bit of a trend happening in our guest book of doodles left by our lovely guests, often our littler guests, of things they have seen during their visit. There’s even a few self portraits.

Still trying to decide my favourite 😍 Also, we don’t have a cat 🤷🏻‍♀️

Today we had a wander to our neighbour’s little library book exchange. Packed with novels and children’s books, it’s the perfect pit stop to switch up your holiday reading. It’s such a beautiful addition to our community, thank you for gifting your little library to us all 📚

asked the question today ‘why do people who host, host?’ So here goes with our ‘why’ of hosting….

Recently we had a lovely young couple booked in for two nights who, during their stay, asked to book an extra night as they were having such a great break. They had outdoor fires on some glorious summer evenings and were thrilled to learn the wood and marshallows were all provided as part of the experience.

And this is our ‘why’, knowing that people can take a break from the everyday, that we can offer mindful time for guests to connect with each other and with nature. We love the idea of people coming from the city and getting lost in stick collecting to get the fire roaring.

With our seven feathery girls wandering the garden, eggs don’t come much fresher than this. It feels so good to be able to treat guests to free range eggs as a breakfast option, and usually within 24hrs of being laid. How pretty are they?

January…time to sit and gently ponder what exciting things the next 12 months could bring…how our lives might move forward, what projects we hope to get stuck into and what we want to give our focus to.
