Criterion Hotel South Johnstone Rach brought the 1930's Pub in 2025 and wanted to bring back the good old Aussie Pub Culture. Absolutely worth a visit.

where you can all come and have a good feed, a few beverages, a laugh and a bit of Banter. Built in 1930, The Criterion is an original old country pub that has a magnificent and interesting history, along with ice cold beer.

Well. Top of the Morming Everyone. I know we've been a bit quite. But that's because we've been busy, it's been like Ground Hog day sometimes, let me tell you. And the old girl is coming up a treat. We have the dart room and another room to paint and then we can start putting it all back together. I don't know about you, but I can't wait, i really cant. Hearing great feed back from you all, that, and those of you that pop in, well, just keep us going.
So not long now before you get your local watering hole back.

Well the first day of Reno's started today. And it went really well, although some of my muscles aren't feeling that way. So we'll keep you posted, and I think a few pics are in order.

Ps, I've heard a few stories as to why I closed up, and I got a giggle out of some of them. But the truth of the matter is I was drowning and I broke. Mainly because of legal issues that a certain person is causing, a few wrong decisions and it felt like the world kept punching. But after a reset, restructure and a wee reno job to do, I'm ready to go again. I've always said the Pub is for you guys, and I really mean that. So it won't be long and my dream of running a good old Aussie Pub will start again.
I really miss you guys, i really do. The pubs bloody boring with out ya's.

The SJ is permanently closed. I'd like to thank each and everyone of you that has supported the Pub since I took it over. I didnt quite make it a year, but it's a tuff gig. Hope to see you around. Thankyou sincerely, we had some bloody awesome times.
