Our most important conservation announcement in NSW for more than a decade 🐨

We’re proud to announce the NSW Government’s intention to reserve 176,000 hectares of state forest in the Mid North Coast to create the proposed Great Koala National Park, securing the habitat and future of 12,000 koalas and over 100 other threatened species.

When complete, the park will combine with existing reserves to create one of the largest protected areas in NSW, encompassing more than 476,000 hectares.

The forests in this region are a biodiversity hotspot, home to dozens of other threatened species including greater gliders, the powerful owl and yellow-bellied gliders.

A centrepiece of koala conservation in NSW, the park will become a must-see destination that will attract visitors from far and wide and provide a vital contribution to the local economy.

πŸ’¬ We’d love your feedback!

The branding and core design are now set, but the exhibition is your chance to help shape how the trail is presented, promoted and brought to life.

The Mulumun Trail Masterplan and supporting documents are now on exhibition via Your Say Macleay: ksc.pub/Mulumun-Trail.

Public exhibition closes, close of business Wednesday 1 October 2025.
