WE ARE OPEN!
Wow I think that was the longest time we've experienced being without power - 10 days!
It was just a Cat 1 cyclone that crossed the coast, unusual down these parts, but with enough winds in a short time to push over many trees onto powerlines.
Fortunately, no-one was injured or had serious damage to their houses, but lots of cleanup.
A big thank you to the SES, SMCA and locals who jumped into action to clear roadways and driveways, and who provided free food, showers and internet which made things bearable. It was fun as well though, candlelight at night time and early to bed, early to rise!
We'd ask if you could please consider coming up & help support us & other small business here & elsewhere affected by this cyclone Alfred. In small communities, we often rely heavily on the hospitality sector to keep our doors open & pay the bills.
Some parts of Springbrook national park have re-opened.
Notably Purling Brook Falls circuit, Best of All Lookout & other vantage points - see National Parks website for further updates.
Keep checking the National Parks website for further updates.
And even though an area is declared safe, please still take lots of care over the coming weeks as the ground in many places is still wet and conditions are changeable.
Have a great weekend!
