St George is a great spot for birdwatchers, with plenty of opportunities to see native birdlife without having to venture too far. Keep an eye and ear out around Pelican Rest, then head further afield to local hotspots including the Balonne River, Jack Taylor Weir and Beardmore Dam.

Pelicans, cockatoos and eagles are among the birds you might spot around the waterways, with plenty more waiting to be discovered if you’ve got the binoculars handy. It’s a lovely way to slow down and experience another side of St George and the wider region!

It's officially spring, one of our favourite seasons in St George. Longer days and warmer weather mean more time to get outside, explore town and enjoy those beautiful country evenings. Plus, our town turns purple with jacarandas blooming in October and early November.
