A long 18 months, but worth every moment of the wait.
To Jai and his team, stonemason Josh O’Connor, and every single person who played a part in restoring the Bond Store — we simply cannot thank you enough.
The care, skill and patience that went into bringing this remarkable old building back to life can be seen in every detail. What you have helped us create is something very special, and something our family will always be incredibly proud of.
Thank you for giving the Bond Store its future while respecting everything that came before it.
Behind the award-winning project…
Built in 1835 from stone once used as sailing-ship ballast, Stanley’s historic Bond Store has served as a customs storehouse, bacon factory, grain store and restaurant.
Our clients entrusted us with transforming this remarkable building into luxury apartments while carefully protecting its history and character. The project required complex fire-safety upgrades, new openings formed through 660mm-thick basalt walls, and 18 months of meticulous traditional stonemasonry.
A shout-out to our stonemason, Josh O’Connor, whose exceptional skill, patience and craftsmanship were integral to restoring the building’s historic stonework.
Being entrusted with the restoration of such an important piece of Stanley’s history was a privilege. We’re proud of the care and craftsmanship our entire team and specialist trades brought to the project, and incredibly honoured to have our work recognised with the MBT award for Restoration/Renovation – Heritage Listed or Period Building – Commercial.
