HAPPY 90th BIRTHDAY to my dear Dad John. How many 90 year olds can still get on a ride on mower ??. Little Optimus is his constant companion.
Thanks for all your help over the years dad and for believing in me. Thanks too for all the mowing. Wishing you the best birthday possible. Love you dearly, Craig 🎉🎂🎈

It’s a few years since l have done any stone work. I just finished these plinths on which l will display some of my glass pieces. If you zoom in there’s a second one in the background. Fiddly work when there’s lots of corners to build but happy with the results.
I built these where l removed some of my Hollie’s in summer. Now to get on with the glass to go on them.

It’s always exciting to open the kiln to see how everything turned out. These are Swallowtail butterflies l am making for a display piece to go in the garden. I am making new glass for the garden over winter and hope to have a special opening.

I love how the look of glass changes with the seasons. As the suns is getting lower in the sky as we head towards the winter solstice the glass gets illuminated in the afternoons. Nice to have colour when most of the autumn leaves have fallen and the flowers are finishing.

As autumn draws to an end Mother nature puts on a final show of colours . Deciduous hedges aren’t seen much in Australia, these are hornbeam hedges and l love how they change with the seasons, peaking in yellow and gold this time of year. How grateful l am to live in a climate with pronounced seasons.

Forthergilla major is a beautiful small shrub related to witch hazels ( Hamamaelis) from North America. It is very slow growing so the smallest garden could fit one in. Fluffy white spring flowers but it’s the autumn foliage it’s prized for. I mentioned this in my last video and someone contacted me for the name, hence this post. Mine is in shade, l don’t think it would enjoy a hot position in full sun but l am happy to be proved wrong. Happy Autumn 🍂🍁

It’s not hard for artists to find inspiration in nature. These are red maple leaves that l will use as references to create some glass leaves using glass powders. Such amazing colours and patterns.

Nyssa sylvatica ‘Autumn cascade’ puts on a stunning show each autumn. Nyssa’s are North American trees known for their autumn colours, moisture and drought tolerant. The show won’t last much longer but what an amazing autumn it’s been.

Autumn is nature’s glorious way of showing us the beauty of death. The leaves only reveal their splendour as they die to be reborn anew in the spring. I hope when my days upon this sweet earth are up that’s it’s on a beautiful Autumn day like this that l can lie down upon a blanket of fallen leaves and take my last breath. Having no regrets and so grateful for the days l spent working with and loving Mother Earth,🍁🍂❤️
