From May to November, Sydney’s coast turns into a whale highway — and you’re invited to watch the magic! 🐾✨

Here are our top tips for an unforgettable whale watching experience:
🔭 Best spots: Try Bondi to Coogee walk, North Head Lookout, or Cape Solander in Kurnell for panoramic views.
📅 Best time: Morning is ideal when the ocean is calm and the sun lights up the horizon.
👀 What to spot: Humpback whales breaching, tail slaps, and sometimes playful calves.
📷 Bring: Binoculars, camera, sunscreen, and patience – nature doesn’t run on schedule. 😉
🧥 Pro tip: It gets windy! Bring a warm layer even if it’s sunny.

🌿 Escape the City: Explore Royal National Park! 🌊

Just an hour from Big Hostel, the Royal National Park is the perfect day-trip destination for nature lovers! Hike along the stunning Coastal Track, swim in the crystal-clear waters of Figure Eight Pools, or take in breathtaking ocean views at Wedding Cake Rock.

🚆 How to get there:

Take the T4 train to Cronulla, then hop on the ferry to Bundeena, the gateway to the park!
Or drive for about an hour from Sydney CBD.
🎒 Travel tips:
✅ Wear comfy shoes – the hikes can be steep!
✅ Check the tide times before visiting the Figure Eight Pools.
✅ Pack plenty of water & snacks – no shops in the park but some mini markets in Bundeena.
✅ Don’t forget sunscreen & a hat!

🎨☕ Creativity knows no boundaries! Yesterday’s Paint Your Own Mug event was a true highlight. It was fascinating to see how everyone brought their own unique perspective to the task.

From abstract designs to detailed patterns, every mug told a story, and it was amazing to watch the creative process unfold. Events like these remind us how diverse and inspiring our hostel community truly is.
