FLOOD WATCH UPDATE | WALLACIA AND SURROUNDING AREAS

The Bureau of Meterology has updated its flood watch that applies to the Nepean river that flows through Wallacia and also includes the creeks that flow through Wallacia and the surrounding areas. The flood watch is for now for possible MODERATE to MAJOR flooding.

Now is the time to PREPARE if you live or if you have any assets in low lying areas. For emergency assistance for flood or storm damage call the SES on 132 500. For any life threatening emergencies, call 000 immediately.

The latest information on the water level at Wallacia bridge is that the water level is reading around 1.00 meter on the flood gauge at Wallacia and is rising steadily. As a guide, in the past the Wallacia bridge has been closed when the floodwaters have reach about 8.50m on the flood gauge at the bridge. If floodwaters do reach the forecasted levels of MODERATE to MAJOR, the bridge will likely be closedοΏΌ later this week.

We will continue to monitor the weather and floodwater levels over the next few days and posted updates as things change.

ROAD CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING. Silverdale Rd, Wallacia at Blaxland Crossing ( Wallacia bridge ) is now closed in both directions to all vehicles and pedestrians.οΏΌ

There is no time frame in regards to the re-opening of the bridge due to the current weather conditions however the bridge will need to be inspected by engineers from Wollondilly Council prior to reopening.
