After what felt like endless rain… the sunshine is back, and so is the wildlife! ☀️

The deck is full again, the cockatoos are back in their favourite spots, and somehow the brush turkey has promoted himself to rooftop supervisor… sitting proudly up there like he owns the place (the cockatoos may disagree 😄).

Love them or laugh at them, the locals are back in full swing happy, relaxed, and enjoying the peace at Mountain Sanctuary Retreat, where even the wildlife feels safe, calm, and right at home.

After what feels like an endless amount of rain, the sunshine has finally returned ☀️

Today the mountain is simply breathtaking — blue skies stretching above, fresh crisp air, birds singing again, and the sunshine beautifully capturing everything around us. There’s something so special about seeing nature come back to life after days of mist, wind, and rain.

It really reminds you to appreciate the simple things… sunshine on your face, patches of blue sky, and the beauty that surrounds us every day that we sometimes take for granted.

Feeling incredibly grateful for a day like today and this little piece of paradise we call home. 💙

Good morning from Mountain Sanctuary Retreat
One of our regular “guests” popped by the window to say hello today… or perhaps just checking if room service is available 😉

These beautiful cockatoos are part of the magic up here curious, cheeky, and surprisingly friendly. Imagine waking up, opening your eyes, and finding this little face waiting to greet you… nature at your doorstep.

We love watching them interact (from a respectful distance, of course), just being part of their world rather than interrupting it

Fun little thought for the day have you ever noticed birds often use one foot to hold their food while they eat? It’s actually not always the left just like us, they can be a bit “left-footed” or “right-footed” depending on the bird!

Peaceful mornings, rainforest views, and the a feathered visitor greeting you at your window.

Things to do when staying at Mountain Sanctuary Retreat 🌿

Just a gentle 100-metre walk from your room… and you step straight into Palm Grove, part of Tamborine National Park.

This isn’t just a beautiful rainforest walk it’s full of fascinating stories.

Along the track, you’ll come across the ancient Black Bean trees, with their incredible buttress roots (yes, those giant sculptural bases that look like natural pieces of art).

What’s even more interesting… scientists have studied compounds from these trees for their potential use in antiviral and medical research.

But it’s not just what you see… it’s what you hear.
The soft sound of water flowing nearby, the unmistakable laugh of kookaburras echoing through the trees… and then suddenly — a rustle in the bushes.

You pause for a second, slightly startled… only to realise it’s just one of the local pademelons hopping through the undergrowth, going about its day.
