🐟 A little local gem on Tamborine Mountain – The Codfather!

We decided on fish & chips for dinner and what a great find. Beautiful cod, calamari and chips, with both grilled and battered fish to choose from — absolutely delicious.

And the shop itself is just so wonderfully quaint and full of character. ❤️

It was also such a pleasure meeting owner Janice O'Brien — what a lovely woman.

Our cockatoos already had their own private dining room—but we thought they might enjoy a lovely new open feeder. 🦜

It was a wonderful idea… until the local brush turkeys discovered they could actually fly up to it! 😂

And just like that, the peaceful cockatoo café became an all-you-can-eat turkey buffet.

So that was the first—and last—appearance of the open feeder. It’s back to the turkey-proof dining room at Mountain Sanctuary Retreat! 🤣

One of the things we love most about mornings at Mountain Sanctuary Retreat is never quite knowing who will pop in for a visit. 🌿💚

Our mulberry trees are bursting with fresh new leaves at the moment, and the local pademelons have certainly noticed! This beautiful mum has been visiting quietly, and this morning we discovered why — look closely and you’ll see a tiny little joey tucked safely inside her pouch. 🦘🥰

And, of course, she wasn't our only visitor… one of our resident brush turkeys decided to wander through and join the morning gathering too. 🦃

These are the little moments that make life on Tamborine Mountain so special — waking up surrounded by rainforest, birdsong and our beautiful local wildlife.

🦜 Morning wake-up call at Mountain Sanctuary Retreat! 🌿

When the cockatoos come knocking at the window as if to say, “Hey! Wake up — we’re hungry!” 😂

Meanwhile, the rest of the gang is already waiting patiently in the trees, wondering why breakfast is taking so long.

It’s become almost a morning ritual here at Mountain Sanctuary Retreat — cockatoos at the window, birdsong in the trees and plenty of very serious conversations about when the seeds are going to arrive. 🦜🌳

This is what mornings on Tamborine Mountain can be like. Sit back with your breakfast or morning coffee, relax and listen to the birds waking up around you.

Sometimes nature has its own way of reminding us to slow down. 🦆🌿

This is a pretty normal kind of “traffic jam” here on Tamborine Mountain — our feathered locals taking their time crossing the road. And really, who are we to rush them? 😊

Living on the mountain reminds you that not everything needs to happen quickly. Sometimes you just stop, wait, look around and appreciate the beautiful place you’re in.
So when you visit, take your time, enjoy the winding roads, watch out for our wildlife and embrace the slower pace. 💚

Sometimes the best part of the journey is being made to slow down.
