The Chinese Year of the Snake from January 29, 2025, to February 16, 2026, was a year of turmoil as predicted. I lost Rebel, Jock and Dot to Tiger Snakes; in each case, they had killed the snake. Then Midge and Jellie's sudden, unexplained death, suspected snakes.
The year of the Fire Horse begins on February 17, 2026. Can't wait, it is associated with themes of movement, energy, and new beginnings, encouraging individuals to embrace change and pursue their goals with confidence.

One sometimes questions what life brings up.
Yesterday Jelly while running hard to head a mob of sheep speared herself on a fallen dead tree branch or parts thereof. Tore herself open from the spine and round the girth, about a 9" wound and lacerated hind legs. An expensive trip to the vet and surgery last night.
Today Rebel the little kelpie who at her last 2 trials had regained her confidence in the arena, while at home she was always a sensible dog with a really good cast, feeling for her stock and respect for the flight zone. She had an encounter with a tiger snake in her pen. Both ended up the victims as has been the case in the past with other dogs. Yet there was water within 3 metres outside of her pen, a precaution that has been working once I started the practice.
I am devastated by the loss, not to mention we have the trial season starting next week and 2 major Victorian trials coming up in February, the Commonwealth Championships and the Australian Championship.
