Situated on the southern reaches of the Darling Downs 230km south-west of Brisbane, Texas sits on the banks of the Dumaresq River which forms the border with New South Wales.

To the east of Texas is Glenlyon Dam with facilities for fishing, sailboarding and canoeing. 14,000 hectares of countryside which is administered by the Queensland National Parks and Wildlife Service.

What a lovely little motel with delightful staff. Our room was spacious, clean , and the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. We were just across from the hotel so very convenient for meals. The Motel is handy to shops and cafes.

Things to see and do in Texas, Qld.

Texas Rabbit Works

Opened on May 13, 2017 as a tourism destination highlighting the importance of the feral rabbit industry both in Texas and in Australia. This is an interactive museum with lots to see and listen to as you take a journey through this unique old building. Listen to some stories, and leave some of your own.

"If you are in the area this is a must. The videos are so interesting with a great deal of historical footage.
Never realised that this industry of freezing rabbits and sending them as far as England and the USA lasted for so long.
The rabbit industry was the saving grace for the town and district of Texas. The freezer machinery is still in tact. Great display with friendly staff. "
