Friendly staff
On the main street but very quiet and handy to everything.
Hotel across the road with fantastic meals.

Texas Rabbit Works

Opened on May 13, 2017 as a tourism destination highlighting the importance of the feral rabbit industry both in Texas and in Australia. This is an interactive museum with lots to see and listen to as you take a journey through this unique old building. Listen to some stories, and leave some of your own.

"If you are in the area this is a must. The videos are so interesting with a great deal of historical footage.
Never realised that this industry of freezing rabbits and sending them as far as England and the USA lasted for so long.
The rabbit industry was the saving grace for the town and district of Texas. The freezer machinery is still in tact. Great display with friendly staff. "

🎉 The Texas Show 2026 is on this weekend - Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July!

Get ready for two action-packed days of rodeo, campdrafting, show jumping, stud cattle judging, yard dog trials, pig races, sideshow alley, markets, laser tag and plenty of free activities for the kids.

Saturday features the Texas Rodeo, whip cracking, open-fire cooking demonstrations, fireworks and live music from Will Day & Band.

Sunday includes the Tough Texan Challenge, woodchop, classic cars, ute and motorbike competitions, drone lolly drop, Calcutta Pig Race and the Major Holiday Lucky Gate Draw.

Texas Regional Art Gallery

Hidden away within the Texas Cultural Centre, the Art Gallery displays an array of artworks from both local artists within the region and from afar.

The current exhibit is a very special collection of precious hand crafted pieces on loan from The Queensland Embroiderers’ Guild archives. The exhibition runs until 31st July. Workshops are being held. Register your interest through the gallery.

Texas Heritage Centre & To***co Museum

Open Saturdays - 9am to 1.30pm

The Texas Heritage Centre & To***co Museum has numerous buildings to explore from a mini Shearing Shed, Harness Shed, Jail and Stocks, Smithy, Post Office Store, Farm Shed, to the Mission Hall.

Our complex contains over 2000 catalogues items, photographs and family histories. We also have a School Room with the teacher aids of many decades ago. Relics from the Silverspur Mine, information from Texas Station and many photos and books written by members of the Historical Society about the people, events and industries of the area.

We welcome all visitors including groups. We are open Saturdays from 9am to 1.30pm and by appointment at other times, excluding Public Holidays and Easter Weekend.

The Texas Show 2026 – 25 & 26 July

Get ready for an action-packed weekend celebrating country life at the 2026 Texas Show!

Enjoy two full days of entertainment featuring rodeo action, campdrafting, show jumping, stud cattle judging, yard dog trials, pig races, sideshow alley, laser tag, outdoor markets, mechanical bull rides, gladiator duels and plenty of free activities for the kids.

Saturday highlights include the Texas Rodeo, live performances from local students, whip cracking competitions, open fire cooking demonstrations by Chef Jason Roberts, fireworks and live music from Will Day & Band.

Sunday brings even more excitement with the dog competition, pushbike races, Tough Texan Challenge, woodchop events, classic car display, ute competition, motorbike competition, drone lolly drop, the Calcutta Pig Race and the Major Holiday Lucky Gate Draw.

Whether you're a local or visiting the region, the Texas Show offers something for all ages and is a fantastic celebration of rural community spirit.
