LACHLAN SHIRE NEEDS YOUR VOTE

This year Lachlan Shire nominated the Lachlan Shire Improved Freight Logistics and Visitor Information Centre project in two categories in the 2024 National Awards for Local Government. We are excited to enter these awards and encourage everyone to vote for our entries.

The project is entered in the Regional Growth category as it is supports increased economic activity in the region by encouraging tourists to engage with the unique experiences on offer. Lachlan Shire Council is proud to support the growth of tourism in the region and provide visitors with improved facilities that encourage them to linger in the Lachlan.

It is also entered in the Road Safety category as the project supports the travelling public and transport industry by providing a convenient rest facility and safer roads. The construction of 24hr accessible toilets and showers at the well-located tourism precinct is a welcome facility for truck drivers and travellers to assist in the management of driver fatigue. The improved flood resilience of 9km of road leading to the site has provided a safe alternate traffic route for travellers when the Newell Highway is closed due to flooding.

Mayor Paul Phillips said that “Lachlan Shire Council was excited to have two submissions in these National Awards and encourages all residents to vote”. Voting is open until 26 April 2024.

With only 2 weeks to go, have you got your Race Day outfit sorted?
There are some very lovely prizes up for grabs again this year for Fashions on the Field.

Our Guest Judge will be selecting the winners for each category from the crowd through out the day, based on their racing style and attire.

The following categories will be judged on the day:
🎖Best Dressed Female
🎖Best Dressed Male
👑Best Millinery

The Guest Judge will be basing their decision this year on Race Day Fashions Appropriate for Country Racing. Although we will have just clicked over into the Autumn Racing season, the weather will likely still be very warm on Race Day and attire should be appropriate for the conditions on the day.

The following criteria will be considered:
*Style and originality
*Appropriateness of the outfit/millinery for a Country Picnic Race Day
*Understanding of country-race attire
*Grooming and presentation
*Appropriateness for the climate and seasonal weather on the day
