Want a great idea for a morning activity when you’re staying at unit 10 Sails on Horseshoe. Grab a kayak or a SUP and paddle over to White Lady Bay. See turtles pop their heads up along the way and enjoy the bay from a different perspective.

The SS Adelaide ship wreck is off the south west coast of Magnetic Island and has a really interesting story behind it. You can choose to view it from Cockle Bay by walking out a little way at low tide or through one of the many day trips around the island. The SS Adelaide shipwreck has been in that spot for 110 years. At the end of it’s working life it was purchased for one pound by the Butler family with intention to sink the ship in front of the Picnic Bay jetty to provide protection when loading and unloading boats. However the ship became stuck in the mudflats and could not be moved. It now provides a place for birds who use it to nest at night.

Circumnavigate the entire island on a day trip with ‘Aquascene’ Enjoy the wealth of local knowledge from your guide, including the best places to snorkel. Stroll down to the water from unit 10 Sails on Horseshoe for pick up for their sunset tour (2 hours) or meet at Nelly Bay marina for day trips.

Just a 5 min drive or 20 minute walk from Sails to experience these little guys in their natural habitat. The Forts walk is a sure thing to spot one of the 1500 koalas living on Magnetic island. Adorable.

Sunday morning markets at Horseshoe bay are a must if you are staying on the island. Better still, when you are staying at Unit 10 at Sails on Horseshoe, wander down and pick up some lovely products from the many artisans who set up their stalls for the day. There’s often photographers, soaps and oils, jewellery and clothing for you to enjoy.

Breakfast in the tree tops overlooking the bay. Enjoy a self catered breakfast on the balcony of unit 10.
