A lovely surprise this week — Mirador Springs Retreat was included in a beautiful Marie Claire feature on the Gippsland region.......excerpt below - with sincere thanks to Pauline Weiss of Marie Claire Paris office.................To discover this region for a day or over several days without renting a car, it is possible to call on Antipodes Tours which sets up excursions in small groups. The trips are made in a 4x4 with Andrew, a guide who is passionate about the region where he was born and which he knows by heart.
Where to sleep? After a day by the sea, head to the Strzelecki Ranges, low mountains of Gippsland to put down your suitcases at the Mirador Springs Retreat. In addition to an infinity pool and elegant cottage, two luxury glamping experiences are set in the garden. Don't worry, the tents contain much more than what is necessary. Here, a night in nature has never been so comfortable, especially since the hosts, Anne and Stanley, will be happy to share their anecdotes and good recommendations.
Where to eat? On the edge of the vineyards, Hogget Kitchen is one of the best restaurants in Gippsland. Sitting between the vineyard and the open kitchen, where only local and seasonal products (excellent vegetables and meats) are made, you will discover the memorable gastronomic flavors that are obviously accompanied by wines from the neighboring vineyard. Who says you don't eat well in Australia?
