It's been five weeks since Julie and I slipped quietly into retirement with City Gardens Motel now in the very safe hands of Rama and Ranjana. Time to say many, many thanks to all those customers who loyally supported us in the past 13 years, to the suppliers we harassed (and sometimes paid late, sorry) and the tradespeople who helped us keep the motel running. Thanks also to our landlord Abdul who was always helpful, the office staff at Budget Motels and Phil from CRE who negotiated the sale for us. But the BIGGEST thanks must be to our loyal staff Jaime, Jaime and Bev without whom nothing would have been possible, you were terrific. Support City Gardens, it's a great place to stay.

We hope Tony Pearce has plenty of blister cream in his van as he leaves City Gardens on a 50-day walk around Victoria to raise much needed funds for the Emergency Services Foundation. 3D printing is another world to most of us, but not to Jaimie, one of our valued cleaners, who rescued this lid from a fridge freezer compartment after one of the hinges had broken. As good as new (or better) after she fabricated a new hinge. Many thanks.

There have been many smiles at City Gardens this week with the return of our friends from Sunshine Scenic Tours while they carry passengers to Melbourne and back during the temporary closure of the Gippsland rail service. Driving to Spencer St several times a day can not be fun but the drivers always have a smile and a joke when they arrive home. 😀😀😀😀
