We often focus on the beautiful coastline around Tumby Bay, but there’s another side of the region that’s every bit as captivating. Head inland and you’ll find rolling farmland, lush green paddocks and quiet country roads that seem made for exploring.
A leisurely drive through the countryside is a wonderful way to while away a few hours, particularly when the landscape is at its greenest. The roads around the Tumby Bay district take you through a changing patchwork of cropping country, grazing land and gentle hills, with plenty of opportunities to stop, take in the views and simply enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside.
For a longer outing, make your way towards Koppio, where you can combine the drive with a visit to the historic Koppio Smithy Museum. Or head further inland towards Cummins, where the scenery changes with the seasons—from brilliant green and flowering canola to golden paddocks at harvest time.
Sometimes the best way to experience Tumby is simply to turn off the main road, slow down and see where the country roads take you.
