♻️ The circular economy at Elm Cottage: here's how we sort our rubbish
We've changed how we handle waste here, and we'd love you to join in. 💚
🌿 1. Green waste goes to compost. Food scraps and garden waste now go into our own compost heaps and come back as healthy soil for the property.
🥤 2. Return and Earn. Plastic bottles, glass bottles and aluminium cans are each sorted into their own container. Because they arrive already separated, they can go off to a facility in Albury to be cleaned and sent back to manufacturers, ready to be refilled and back on the shelves. The cans are crushed and recycled. Less landfill, less waste! 🙌
📄 3. Paper. This is where we need YOUR help! Many people don't realise that paper mixed with food scraps, grease or plastic can't be recycled, so the whole lot ends up in landfill. Every cottage has a paper recycling container. Please only put clean, dry paper and cardboard in it. No tissues, greasy pizza boxes or coffee cups, thank you!

Best place to stay in the country if you love fishing you will love elm cottage. 17 trout in 7 days just on the property. Meet the local platypus and echidna while taking in the beautiful views. Deb and Dave are amazing hosts and go out of their way to to take care of all your needs. Been coming here for years now and ill be back for many years to come.
Friends the video to me is special, proof with all our work on the riverbank around the property not only are the Platypus back but our special vulnerable friend is back with care we may be able to increase their numbers

Its been a great couple of weeks here at Elm Cottage, not only has Elm Cottage been rated in the top 5 Farmstays in NSW by NRMA it was awarded Rural Retreat Australia of the year 2027 by Global 100. We do not nominate for either of these awards they are thanks to our valued guests and journalistic staff that visit. To all our friends we thank you

Today Deb, I Mary, Philomena and Mighty Mouse celebrate the life of Elm Cottages favourite son 'Lincoln James' who passed today at approx 12 noon 28th September 2026 aged 12 years 8 months and 30 days. Lincoln was and integral and much loved member of the Elm Cottage family and adored and admired by many guests who got to know him over the past years, he was "everybodies friend'.
Thanks to those at the Tumut Vet Clinic with a special shout to Peter Maguire as they have looked after Lincoln since his arrival at Elm Cottage as a 3 month old cute ball of fluff. RIP big fella.
