🌱✨ What an incredible day at Cooinda Retreats. ✨🌱

Today, we had the privilege of hosting and sponsoring the Fleurieu Youth Climate Summit 2026, welcoming students, educators, community leaders and passionate young people from across the Fleurieu Peninsula for a day focused on learning, collaboration and action.

As a community initiative of Toc H South Australia
seeing Cooinda Retreats used in this way is exactly what inspires us. Bringing people together, creating opportunities for conversation, sharing ideas, and supporting the next generation to explore the challenges and possibilities that lie ahead.

The energy throughout the day was remarkable. From thought-provoking speakers and practical workshops to the enthusiasm and leadership shown by the young people in attendance, there was a genuine sense of optimism and purpose in every corner of the site.

A huge thank you to the organisers, presenters, teachers, volunteers and students who made the day such a success. Most importantly, thank you to the young people who showed that the future is in capable hands.

We are incredibly proud that Cooinda Retreats was chosen as the venue for this important event and grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in supporting it.

A place like Cooinda Retreats doesn’t stay beautiful by accident. 🌿🔨

Behind every campsite, building and view is a constant cycle of care, maintenance and renewal. Today was one of those important jobs, replacing sections of roofing over our alfresco dining area to keep everything weatherproof and ready for guests to enjoy, whatever the season.

It’s not always the most glamorous work, but it’s the kind of investment that helps protect this special place for the future. Every improvement, big or small, helps ensure Cooinda remains a welcoming space for campers, groups, families and our broader community.

A big thank you to everyone who contributes to keeping Cooinda looking its best. ❤️

🌿 The Fleurieu Youth Climate Summit is almost here! 🌿

On Thursday 4 June, students from across the Fleurieu Peninsula will come together at Cooinda Retreats for a day of learning, collaboration, leadership and climate action.

Now in its fifth year, the Summit creates opportunities for young people to share ideas, explore practical solutions, connect with peers, and be inspired by guest speakers and facilitators from across the region.

We are proud to be hosting and sponsoring this important event and look forward to welcoming the next generation of changemakers to Cooinda Retreats.

It was wonderful to welcome Lou Nicholson Fleurieu Peninsula our new State Member for Finniss, to Toc H South Australia’s Cooinda Retreats today.

Adam and Beck had the opportunity to walk Lou through the site and share more about our emerging community centre village concept, which focuses on wellbeing, inclusion, connection and practical community support across the Southern Fleurieu.

We also appreciated the chance to discuss the importance of school camps and the Government’s commitment in this area, particularly around access, affordability and the role community-based providers can play.

Thank you Lou for taking the time to visit, listen and understand the work we are doing at Toc H South Australia and Cooinda Retreats.

At Cooinda Retreats, community has always been at the heart of what we do.

Cooinda Retreats is a community led, community operated not for profit space right here in Victor Harbor, created to support connection, belonging, wellbeing, creativity, inclusion, and opportunities for people to come together in meaningful ways.

This site has been part of our local community since 1938, while our broader organisation has been supporting community, volunteerism, and grassroots community action since 1925. 🌿

Over the years, Cooinda has become home to camps and conversations, youth programs, family gatherings, wellbeing activities, volunteer projects, community groups, creative ideas, and people reconnecting with nature and each other.

At its heart, Cooinda is a space for community, and we believe there is still so much potential for this beautiful place to support our local community into the future. ✨

As our organisation continues to grow alongside our community, we’d love to connect with local people, grassroots groups, creatives, volunteers, and those carrying ideas they’d like to explore.

Whether it’s a wellbeing activity, creative workshop, youth initiative, support network, community gathering, or simply people looking for connection, we believe spaces like Cooinda can help bring good ideas and good people together.

The long weekend is nearly here and the Cooinda Retreats RV park is looking sensational. 🌿🚐✨

Today was a magic day outside getting everything ready for the travellers who will soon be rolling in and calling Cooinda home for a few days. Fresh sites, open skies, and that beautiful Fleurieu breeze through the trees. 🌾🌤️

If you’re heading our way, get ready for starry skies, fresh coastal air, and some seriously relaxing camping. 🌌

And a little sneak preview… today we also met our new caretakers who will be helping welcome guests in the months ahead. We’ll introduce them properly very soon. 👋

Volunteer Caretaker Opportunity – Victor Harbor SA

Cooinda Retreats is a Toc H South Australia community-owned, not-for-profit organisation overlooking the ocean at Victor Harbor. Our work is powered by volunteers, and we are currently seeking a volunteer caretaker or caretakers to support our expansive facilities, spread across five acres.

Some of you may have seen our previous RV Park caretaker posts. This opportunity is different and supports the wider facility.

This is a volunteer position, not a paid role. Being present on site to provide support is important to us.

In return for volunteering with us, we offer:
• Premium powered RV site
• Full use of amenities and facilities
• Stunning coastal bushland setting
• The opportunity to be part of a community-focused organisation

What we ask:
Around 2 hours per day contribution, sometimes grouped, assisting with light gardening, minor lawn care, general maintenance, basic cleaning between stays and general support as needed. Most importantly, an eye for detail and a genuine desire to help make our site better with every interaction.
