The photograph provides a view of the Pay Office (the building on the left). It was the original mines office. On the right was the weigh bridge and photographers darkroom. Centre left is the mines institute, in front of the institute is a hay stack for the mines horses and stables. The white roofed house on the right was the police station and residence which is still there on the corner of Elder Road and Stirling Terrace. Source, with thanks: Steven Birchby.

Great news for our copper coast

ALDI is coming to the Kadina CBD.
The international supermarket chain will set up shop between the two roundabouts, where the highway is being realigned to accommodate new retail buildings. Copper Coast Council and Aldi entered confidential discussion about the land in June. Both parties signed off on the final contract last week and work is expected to start early next year.
