Naringal Station

Naringal Station Luxurious accommodation in an historic homestead on a working farm in the Western District of Victor The Rowe family owned Naringal for 170 years.

Naringal Homestead offers the perfect escape for your special getaway…to indulge, relax and get lost in time. Book the entire homestead for a group getaway with family, friends or work colleagues. Naringal is an iconic property in the Western District, Victoria. It is a privately Australian owned working farm, the current owners are 4th generation farmers, running a mixed enterprise consisting of

sheep, cropping and tourism. William Rowe originally settled at Naringal in 1841 and the original homestead site by the creek was thought to be built in the late 1840's. The original slab hut has been rebuilt and remains a landmark today along with the family cemetery that was first used in the 1860's and is still in use.. The double brick homestead (c.1904) has since been completely renovated. It is situated on the highest point of the property with distant views across the district. The homestead comprises of seven bedrooms (4 king, 2 queen, 1 room with 3 singles). Each bedroom has their own split system for heating and air-con. Each room also has their own modern bathroom. The sprawling homestead has a large drawing room, study, dining room with butler’s modernised kitchen and playroom for children. The homestead has efficient heating throughout the home. The informal living area encompasses the kitchen with an incredible fireplace by which you can enjoy a glass of red! The main kitchen has a traditional 4 oven Aga (converted to electricity) and a large falcon, enough ovens to whip up a country feast or fine dining extravaganza! Fine catering is available on request, also gourmet farm baked cakes! The luxurious homestead is set in a famous Edna Walling designed garden with a modern touch. It has a tear shaped pool, diving board and spa (solar and gas heated), pool house and mod grass tennis court with lights. The pool house provides a splendid entertaining area. It comprises quality ceiling speakers inside and out with ability to control indoor and outdoor volumes - plug in your device with a headphone jack (ipads, ipods, phones, etc.). No one will be telling you to turn down the music, as the neighbours are many kilometres away!

There are countless activities at Naringal Station. The trout fish are abundant in the huge dams, the walks are spectacular along the Naringhil Creek. Bike riding is safe for the children along the laneways of the property. See a large woolshed and shearer’s quarters. Visit the original old slab hut and cemetery. Naringal Station is a magnificent property, where you and your friends will have a unique experience!

This week Naringal had a special group of friends in the Homestead and Shearer’s Quarters, celebrating a very special friend’s life and all their time shared together. They certainly made the most of things, from tennis, swimming/spa, walks, catered dinners exploring the district and more.

Today my husband Al and 100’s of Farmers drove their fire trucks to the big smoke, to fight against the new proposed Fireservice & Volunteers levy. Us farmers pay 5 x more than our city folk. We risk our lives for others. Financially, we are worse off and we are volunteering our time to fight the fires and help at major accidents.
Take Al for example, Fire Captain for the last two years of Streatham (committed to the next 2 years)…been one of the first to respond to two separate fatalities down the road, on the same dangerous intersection, responded to countless fires in the district at all times of the year. Forget if your own property is in danger and in another district, whether it’s Christmas Day, date night…when duty calls our CFA are there to help at all times, unreservedly, as a volunteer. Al has done this for decades , like so many. Wake up Labor Government. Us country people feel like we are being burnt and targeted enough as the minority! We want to be heard and supported!

First day of holidays and George is into it. Clearly needs a good shower tonight. Happy holidays everyone! Naringal is booked out. Great for young and old. Lots of special guests, as always. The Easter crew, their 6th stay, the guests now their 4th and the families in between a special old school/family friend. The fish are biting. Autumn a beautiful time. We just need it to rain. 🤞

Last week was special at Naringal with Louise and crew making a documentary in memory of Clarice Beckett. So good to have Mike and Libby Rowe to share their knowledge of where the famous works were painted. It’s desperately dry at Naringal, however, ironically similar to the Summer 1926/27. Can’t wait to see the end result.

So lovely to receive the photo of Jim and his Murray Cod, saved especially for their Naringal visit. What a fish, just meeting the legal requirements. It’s Jim and his family’s second stay and they all had a ball yet again.
