Platypus Nook

Platypus Nook Superbly positioned in the beautiful township of Waratah are these cute, comfortable units.

It is with a heavy heart that Richard and I have decided to close Platypus Nook and rent the units out to permanent tenants.
The last 2 years have been quite testing due to covid restrictions and international tourists unable to travel to Australia to holiday. Even though borders are now open it has still been quite slow.
We had to bite the bullet and make a decision.
If you or anyone you know would like to rent a fully furnished unit in the beautiful town of Waratah we would love to hear from you!

The Waratah Heritage Festival events program is finally here! This jam-packed schedule has something for everyone. What a great way to celebrate 150 years since James "Philosopher" Smith discovered tin in Waratah.

Tasmaniaโ€™s very own Amazon Rainforest exists right in the heart of the Tarkine wilderness ๐Ÿƒ
In this remote, part of you will find endless natural wonders like the Trowutta Arch.
Formed by the collapse of a cave, this site is not well known, but sure is a treat for the eyes.
๐Ÿ“ Pass through stunning rainforest, on a 1.1 km lightly trafficked back trail near Trowutta to find this gorgeous place.

Waratah - a hidden diamond.

Waratah is a beautiful town, just off the freeway between Burnie & Cradle Mountain.

The town features a number of historical buildings plus a waterfall in the middle right next to the main road. The lake is only 290m away from Platypus Nook and is where you can do some Platypus spotting โ€“ they are best spotted at either Dawn or Dusk.

Do you enjoy a spot of golf? Waratah has its own golf course โ€“ Mount Vista Golf Club. This pretty course overlooks the town and Mt Bischoff. The 570 metre par-5 5th hole is the longest in the state with out of bounds on one side and trees lining the other. Visitors are very welcome.

The Roadhouse - open 7.30am-7pm, 7 days per week, is an easy walk away. Further along this road you will come across the Waratah Museum, St James Church, Gallery and History Centre, The Athaneum, The Post Office and the Stamper Mill. If you continue along past the old Post Office you will see the Waterfall viewing area opposite the Bischoff Hotel. The Bischoff Hotel is open from 3pm-8pm Monday to Friday and 12 noon โ€“ 8pm Saturday and Sunday. A lovely country Pub to stop for a drink or Dinner. A few metres up from the Bischoff Hotel is The Mushroom Cafรฉ โ€“ open 10am-3pm Wednesday to Sunday. Grab a coffee, have some lunch or just pop in for a chat. The local residents of Waratah are a lovely bunch of people.
