🐋 The Most Reliable Whale Sighting This Summer

Warrnambool is famous for whales, but usually only in winter, when Southern Right Whales migrate along the Warrnambool Coast.

Summer visitors don’t normally expect to see one…
unless they find Sandy & Logan.

At Logans Beach Apartments, this much-loved whale sculpture delivers a moment of magic on the hour, every hour. From 8am to 7pm, a burst of music and a spectacular spout of water shoot skyward, a playful surprise that stops people in their tracks. 💦🎶

No tickets. No bookings. No queues.
Just be there at the right time.

Everyone’s welcome to enjoy it.

Today we're rolling back to 1982 and "Wilma" who is still alive and perhaps the most famous Southern Right whale to ever visit Warrnambool.

Given the whales are back in town 😊, we thought we would showcase wonderful Wilma who in 1982 gave birth to her calf at Logan's Beach and became part of a stunning revival of the area as a whale nursery.

Before 1982, it had been more than 80 years since Southern Right whales had been spotted in the Logan's Beach area, having been hunted to near extinction in the late 1800s.

Wilma, with her distinctive fluke, returned at least another five times with a calf and twice on her own, before relocating to the Great Australian Bight. She still lives there!

According to the Great Australian Bight Right Study, Wilma is now about 48 years old and gave birth to her 11th calf in 2023. We love you Wilma! Come visit us some time!
