Yet beyond its beauty lies a remarkable story.
Built during The Abbey’s second stage of construction in 1904, this suite was once part of the student dormitory, where up to 80 boarders called it home at any one time during The Abbey’s years as a boarding school. In 1942, during World War II, students from Brisbane’s sister school All Hallows Convent, were relocated here for safety. To accommodate them, the open western veranda was enclosed, creating additional sleeping quarters.
Today, that same western sunroom has been reimagined as your private sanctuary, the perfect place to bask in winter sunshine, sheltered from the cool, with a book in hand, a glass of wine nearby, and nowhere else to be.
