Milepost Annex

Milepost Annex Paul & JoAnne welcome you to the Milepost Annex, a private guest suite located within the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. Easy walk to WF Lake.

It has bedroom, bathroom, lounge, kitchenette and patio with distant views of the Grose Valley. We love the Blue Mountains and our corner of paradise at the Milepost. Paul and JoAnne welcome you to the Milepost Annex, a self contained private guest suite located within the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. It has bedroom, bathroom and lounge with kitchenette and patio with distant views of the G

rose Valley. Property has mature gardens, many native birds. Restful, beautiful and peaceful. A perfect getaway for singles, couples, writers, thinkers and all who like a quiet spot. Wentworth Falls Lake is an easy walk approximately one mile away (1.6 km). Other major sites 5-10 min by car. HOUSE AND ANNEX - The Milepost Annex is a newly renovated self contained guest suite with gas fireplace, air conditioning, new windows, carpeting and bathroom. Bedroom and lounge have plantation shutters and screened windows. The lounge has kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. There is a desk, printer and TV with DVD player. WiFi and Internet are provided. The guest suite is a wing of the house with its own private entrance and patio. The original weatherboard house with stone foundation, walls and features dates back to the early 1950's. The property was part of the McLaughlin's original estate and later part of a nursery used by Paul Sorenson, the landscape designer at Everglades Gardens in Leura. Tarella Cottage and the Blue Mountains Historical Society are a short walk away. There are lovely gardens on the property and throughout the surrounding neighborhood. WiFi, Internet access and printer are provided in the guest suite and wifi works outside on the patio and in areas of the garden near the house. GARDENS - Guests are welcome to wander in the gardens and enjoy the birds, fish, fountains and peaceful atmosphere. The Annex is completely private with its own front entrance and private patio. The outdoor gardens, picnic table and other seating areas are shared with the owners. Guests can use these areas of the gardens including the picnic table and benches. OURSELVES - Paul is from Philadelphia originally and JoAnne is from Cleveland. Their journey involved a few countries and Queensland, Sydney and now the Blue Mountains in Australia. We first visited the Blue Mountains in 2014 and within a few weeks knew we wanted to retire here for the rest of our lives. We came in every season to assess the weather and to see if JoAnne was warm enough in winter! She was and we bought this lovely weatherboard house with guest annex in 2015. After a recent renovation, the annex and gardens are ready now to share with you. Questions, please contact us!

A bit of history during a train ride!

A bit of history during a train ride!

Steam is back tomorrow.

After a short break for essential maintenance, our beloved steam locomotive is officially back on the tracks.

Our incredible workshop team has worked around the clock to have her ready for the weekend, and after successfully passing all of her testing, sheโ€™s ready to welcome passengers once again.

As much as we love our heritage diesel, thereโ€™s nothing quite like the sight, sound and smell of steam rolling through the valley.

With the recent Blue Mountains road closure announcements, weโ€™d also like to reassure everyone that Zig Zag Railway remains open and is not affected. Our thoughts are with the communities and businesses impacted, and we encourage everyone to continue supporting the region.

We canโ€™t wait to welcome you aboard this weekend and celebrate the return of steam.
