This past weekend we welcomed some of our beautiful Friends of Riverdale onto the property on a successful 'Hunt for the Creeper'.

In the Yarra Valley, several types of weeds have the capacity to choke and smother the native flora, even the tall eucalypts can be in danger and this can destroy habitats of the native wildlife. At Riverdale we are constantly looking to maintain and restore whatever natural habitat we can and Riverdale is so lucky to have some great friends that value this cause highly.

On Saturday a group of 22 strong lined the riverbanks on the property and went hunting for the creepers. Armed with gloves and vigorous determination we focused on ridding the river banks of invasive Japanese Honeysuckle, odd blackberry and a few other common, but unwelcome visitors. A huge thank you to everyone that helped, it will make a big difference to the future health of our strip of native Yarra bushland.
After the hard work, we had a swim in the yarra and warmed up by the bonfire - watching those nasty weeds burn...
