Plastic pollution ๐๏ธ is increasingly one of the most serious environmental problems and that is why this Earth Day ๐ we are giving a shout out ๐ฃ to our local Woolworths at Explore Mission Beach who are partnering with the planet, having gotten rid of all plastic bags at the checkouts! ๐ฅณ
Forget the white Christmas โ๏ธ, go for a beach โฑ๏ธ experience instead.
Weโve just had a cancellation for Christmas 2023, so if you are thinking of a santa sea-change ๐งโ๐, then get in touch. I know weโve only just gotten through Easter ๐ฐ, but Christmas accommodation does disappear fast!

Abbi is our fabulous fur-baby ๐ โa border collie who will hit the 15-year milestone this year. We have travelled with her since we picked her up at 5 weeks old, and she loves it ๐! But, she is now a senior citizen, so we decided to share our best travel tips with you.

With a border collie with arthritis you canโt underestimate the need for a good bed ๐๏ธ and to allow space to travel with it. We have the TONTINE for older pets, itโs great, but takes up a lot of space. So pack it first and work out your space around it.

Ok, so this can be hard when you travel. But Abbi knows walk ๐โ๐ฆบ time every morning is at 5.30am (aggh I know) ๐ฒ. Despite not being able to walk so far or as quickly, itโs essential for her mental and physical well-being, so we keep it going while we are away. (Otherwise, she wonโt let us hear the end of it! ๐คญ)

It goes without saying that just like hoomans, Abbiโs medical needs have increased with age. Make sure you pack all your pooch needs for your trip away ๐๐and look up a good vet ๐ฉบ at your destination, just in case.

As Abbi has gotten older, her diet has had to change. We now have vegies every night ๐๐ฝ๐ฅ. This is not only good for her gut, but now she canโt chase the frisbee all day it helps to reduce weight gain. So how do you travel with this? Pre-cook, pack and freeze โ๏ธ! If travelling for long periods, then allow for a stop with some cooking facilities ๐ณ. She also has special prescription dry-food, so we wither pack enough, or know where we can pick some up along the way. Having consistency in food is really important.

Unfortunately, not all of Australia has gotten with the pet-friendly program. So, we still find we have to book in advance. Think about the type of accommodation you book. Abbi isnโt great with stairs anymore ๐, so single level accommodation is a must, and somewhere that has a secure outdoor area is also great. Older dogs tire easily, so while we go out to dinner ๐ฆ, Abbi is happy to chill in front of the teli!

Configuration
As a pavilion home our bedrooms are spread over two pods (buildings), however for couples or small families we offer access to just one of the bedroom pods at a reduced nightly rate. You will still have exclusive use of the property, but access to one bedroom pod only. The main bedroom pod has two bedrooms, ensuite, powder room and laundry (with washer and dryer). The second bedroom pod has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. All bedrooms have air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, security screens on opening windows, a wardrobe, bedside tables and lamps.
Note: while there is a separate powder room with toilet and basin in the main bedroom pod, if you choose this option then all visitors will need to share the shower in the ensuite.
