With 30 years experience playing and recording all over Europe with some of the biggest acts in blues and rock, including Status Quo, Canned Heat, Peter Green, Mick Taylor and MORE, Gwyn Ashton is now touring Australia.
The former Stevie Wright, Jim Keays and Band of Friends (Rory Gallagher band) guitarist has an electrifying show and lights up the stage whether as an acoustic artist, an electric one-man band, a guitar/drums power duo and a full band for select venues/festivals.
Recorded with Icehouse drummer Paul Wheeler, Ashton’s latest album, Grease Bucket, got to #7 on the Australian Blues & Roots Top 100 Chart in February 2026.

An experienced, prolific songwriter & one who believes in writing for a purpose & not just for the sake of trying to hit the big time. James grew up on an off the grid, isolated farm just inland of Byron Bay where his parents raised him listening to nothing but Bob Dylan. He would sneak his dads guitar from the cupboard & imitate Bob Dylan, singing every word to every song. He even made a harmonica brace out of an old wire coat hanger so he could play the harmonica & guitar at the same time.
James has now been playing live & recording for over ten years, released four studio albums & shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
