Peering deep into the crowded heart of our Milky Way galaxy! 🌌

✨After a little mishap with my Camera, I've managed to get it fixed and collected the necessary Dark and Bias Frames. This wide-field look at the Sagittarius-Carina spiral arm and the sheer density of stars in this region never ceases to amaze. Framed together in this cosmic view are two absolute showstoppers of the night sky.

On the left glows the fierce, high-energy core of the Omega Nebula (M17), casting its brilliant light across surrounding dust lanes. Over on the right sits the expansive Eagle Nebula (M16), home to the iconic, star-birthing "Pillars of Creation."

What makes wide-field imaging so special is seeing how these targets aren't just isolated islands. If you look closely between them, you can trace the faint, interconnected rivers of hydrogen gas and cosmic dust structurally bridging the two complexes together across light-years of space.

I have to cook something to use up the abundant Snow Pea in our garden.
So lunch it is:
- Stir-fried Whiting with Snow Pea.
- Preserved Radish omelette and
- Soy braised cabbage from the freezer. (We usually bulk cook and freeze into portions whenever we pick up bargains for vegetables)

Our food forest is currently full of 🫛 🫛 🫛.

🌌 The Cygnus Loop

Captured under the pristine dark skies of Starry Acres, this wide-field view reveals the breathtaking expanse of the Veil Nebula complex. Spanning roughly 3 degrees in the constellation Cygnus, this massive supernova remnant is the shattered remains of a star that exploded thousands of years ago. The delicate, shock-heated filaments of hydrogen (red) and oxygen (blue-green) tell the story of cosmic destruction and rebirth.

As the skies were kind for 3 nights in a row, allowing me to further capture this and other subjects, I am able to improve on my initial image.

This image features two of the southern sky's most iconic nebulae in the constellation Sagittarius. On the left is the Lagoon Nebula (M8), a vast stellar nursery around 4,000 light-years away where new stars are actively forming within glowing clouds of hydrogen gas. To its lower right is the beautiful Trifid Nebula (M20), famous for its striking combination of red emission nebula, blue reflection nebula and the dark dust lanes that divide it into three distinct lobes.

Image captured using SVBony SV545 and ZWO ASI 533MC Pro with a total integration time of 3.5 hours.
