A walk that Coastal View Cabins guests enjoy is Darby Saddle to Tongue Point, and Fairy Cove.
The track from Darby Saddle provides spectacular coastal/forest scenery as it climbs uphill through stringybark and casuarina forest.

If you haven't heard a koala before, here it is. Sadly it is quite rare to hear it at Coastal View Cabins. Male Koalas pass through spring and summer looking for a mate. 13 years ago I planted koala habitat in the hope of diverting koalas to relative safety, away from the 100km roads. I don't expect them to live here, just have safe passage. I have seen their claw damage on these still too young trees, so hopefully it's working.

I know you will see & hear lots of birds in my gorgeous region; even while you are relaxing on your cabin’s deck! There are 182 confirmed native bird & 7 introduced species here. Victoria has 450 bird species, so that's almost half (42%) of Victorian species!
On your cabin deck from 5.00pm-ish watch for a beautiful pair of wedge-tail eagles (brown colouring) heading home. If they look “light grey” or “dirty grey” then most likely you are seeing our local White-Bellied Sea-Eagles (pictured). A special sighting as there are fewer than 100 breeding pair left in Victoria; 25 pairs live here!
Watch the trees & scrubs around the cabin for a variety of wrens & honeyeaters, or over my paddocks for a range of hawks & cockatoo varieties.
