While much of Australia is reaching for jackets, winter on Pumpkin Island looks a little different. The water is still a beautiful 24°C, the sun is shining, and the Southern Great Barrier Reef is at its sparkling best.

In fact, this is one of our favourite times of year. The ocean is incredibly clear, the days are mild and comfortable, and the snorkelling is exceptional, with vibrant coral gardens and marine life just metres from shore.

Whether you’re paddling the coastline, exploring the reef or simply soaking up the view from your private deck, winter here feels more like endless summer.
