Check this Beauty out! We have hexies within a huge hexie. 😋 Girlfriend Annie Glazbrook produced this little number using a glorious array of oriental prints. I especially love the secondary star that is created by the black fabric.

Quilting-wise: I used a classic curling floral design to echo the oriental flowers and leaves. Happy weekend All. 🌺🌸🌼

It’s ‘pretty in pink’ pandas this week. My Mum made this gorgeous quilt for great-granddaughter Darcy. As you can see, our sweet girl loves it. The pattern is ‘Pandas in Sweaters’ by Elizabeth Hartman. Each block contains a whopping 70 pieces so it was a cutting and piecing marathon for Mum. And she finished the last 3 blocks after back surgery so she definitely earned a glass of wine at the finish line.

I used a heart quilting design because of course I did. ✨💝✨

You have been seeing a lot of my quilt patterns lately, so I thought it was time to return the focus to my day job - the actual quilting for others! Today’s beauty was made by Julie Hood. Kaleidoscope quilts tend to be divas of the quilting world - an amazing meshing of fabrics and colours that take star-like shapes and create a pattern of secondary interlocking circles. Julie’s diva has a quieter - though no less striking - energy courtesy of the softer colours from this Tilda fabric range.

From a quilting perspective - it was swirls for the centre and a series of swirling, curling motifs to frame that centre’s awesomeness.

Hello All. The pattern launch for ‘Petalworks’ finally occurred on Sunday. Again, I would like to thank you all for your valuable feedback re: the cover for this pattern.

The colourwheel Dresden Plate eventually topped the poll last week. I thought you might like to see the final version. I tweaked the styling in response to your feedback - spreading out the quilt so that more of it was visible, and moving the vase of flowers so that they didn’t dominate the picture and obscure the quilt.

Patterns can be found on our website at www.cooeequilting.com or click on the link above. Happy Mother’s Day weekend…because of course it should involve more than one day! 😉

It’s one week until the release of my second pattern ‘Petalworks’ and I have a dilemma…which quilt will feature on the front cover? I like to make multi-size patterns and showcase different fabric approaches but it always leaves me with a difficult choice.

So…I am asking for your help. Which version do you like best? The poll is open:

#1: black & white with colour wheel plates
#2: scrappy bright plates

Both quilts will be shown fully on the back cover.

Last week I showcased the quilt for my next multi-size pattern called ‘Petalworks’. That quilt is actually version 2 (a small throw) so here is the original version - a large throw that can easily be converted to a queen bed size. I began this quilt nearly a decade ago…I know…a shameful admission…and I have heard plenty about my slow progress from Georgie Boy. I had always wanted to make a Dresden Plate quilt but wanted to jazz up the traditional with some seriously funky fabrics.

And here it is!! Finished last year and waiting for its pattern to be written. This was meant to be the front cover but I think version 2 has won that position and instead this shall grace the back. 💖

Hello All! I hope everyone had a nice Easter break. I took the opportunity to work on my next pattern called ‘Petalworks’ that is coming out in a fortnight. It is a Dresden Plate quilt and I have tried to take a classic block and give it a modern vibe using blacks, whites and bright batiks. This is version 2 - a small throw quilt or something to grace the wall.

I call myself a kangaroo quilter (hence Cooee Quilting’s new logo) as I tend to bounce between projects endlessly…so I was very proud of myself as I resisted the call to new fabric pastures and actually got this top complete!! 🤗

I had a lot of fun working on this cool scrappy quilt made by Jenny Pilcher. There are so many different fabrics in it. It’s simple and modern and would be a great quilt for the ‘masculine’ in your life.

The other thing that I love is the way the black/cream and black/white are thrown together. Buying black prints is often frustrating because invariably we are looking for a WHITE background and often discover when we get home that, instead, the background leans more into cream. Jenny shows that you can mix them effectively - especially in a scrappier quilt.

As there was no central theme for this quilt, I drew inspiration from the backing fabric with a swirling feather-like design. 🖤❤️🖤

P.S. I have just learnt that this is called a Potato Chip quilt. Love that name!
