We’re proud to support Archie Jones as he takes on an incredible challenge — competing in the 50th anniversary of the Tatts Finke Desert Race in 2026.

At just 16 years old, Archie is chasing a huge goal: to complete both days of this iconic desert race and finish within 7 hours total. For a young rider taking on his first Finke, that’s no small feat.

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is one of Australia’s most iconic and demanding off-road events, run over two days between Alice Springs and Aputula (Finke) and 2026 marks its milestone 50th year.

The race is scheduled for Friday 5 June to Monday 8 June 2026.

Here on Tasmania’s West Coast, trail bike riding and ATV adventures are a big part of life for many of our guests and locals, so supporting passionate young riders like Archie feels like a natural fit for us at the Heemskirk Motor Hotel.

We’ll be cheering Archie on every step of the way and wish him all the best as he prepares for this unforgettable adventure.

A fresh new look for the Heemskirk Motor Hotel.

We made the most of the beautiful April weather to refresh the exterior of the Heemskirk Motor Hotel.

Big thanks to GBE Maintenance Services for hiring us the boom lift.

And to our legend Doug, who put in four solid days to bring it all together.

Whether you’re a local, working, off‑roading or exploring the West Coast, we’re looking forward to welcoming you to a freshly updated hotel in the heart of Zeehan.
