📢 Important Notice to Our Patrons🍽️

To ensure a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable dining experience for all guests, we have introduced a new policy regarding our bistro seating area.

Children under the age of 14 are welcome to dine in the bistro when they are supervised by a parent or responsible adult. However, unsupervised children under 14 will not be permitted in the bistro area.

This decision was not made lightly. Unfortunately, we have experienced an increasing number of incidents involving unsupervised children running around the bistro, creating safety concerns for our staff carrying hot food and drinks, as well as for other guests trying to enjoy their meals.

Our priority is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

From the track to the finish line.

Huge congratulations to 16‑year‑old Archie Jones on completing his first Tatts Finke Desert Race — one of the toughest off‑road events in the world.

With hundreds of riders on the start line, finishing is a huge achievement — and an outstanding effort at just 16.

At Heemskirk Motor Hotel, we’re proud to support riders and the off‑road community, that’s such a big part of what we see here on the West Coast.

We’re proud to support Archie Jones as he takes on an incredible challenge — competing in the 50th anniversary of the Tatts Finke Desert Race in 2026.

At just 16 years old, Archie is chasing a huge goal: to complete both days of this iconic desert race and finish within 7 hours total. For a young rider taking on his first Finke, that’s no small feat.

The Tatts Finke Desert Race is one of Australia’s most iconic and demanding off-road events, run over two days between Alice Springs and Aputula (Finke) and 2026 marks its milestone 50th year.

The race is scheduled for Friday 5 June to Monday 8 June 2026.

Here on Tasmania’s West Coast, trail bike riding and ATV adventures are a big part of life for many of our guests and locals, so supporting passionate young riders like Archie feels like a natural fit for us at the Heemskirk Motor Hotel.

We’ll be cheering Archie on every step of the way and wish him all the best as he prepares for this unforgettable adventure.
